Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. BulgariaWe were with a couple of kids and there was this cat who was constantly bothering us, who totally owned the sofa in the living room. Lack of mosquito control… and many corpses of mosquito everywhere. View not as described and shown in pictures, as there’s a new building right in front of the villa, basically hiding most of the view (except the view from the balcony upstairs)
Hosts are great. Great, clean pool. Nice looking villa overall. Furnished with style. Huge (for the European standards) bedrooms and bathrooms. Spacious beds. Fully equipped kitchenette. Convenient parking spots. Good location, a few minutes walk from the beach and a few minute drive from convenience store and beach bars and restaurants. Not too noisy considering the close proximity to the main road. Great bbq. Just a tip - consider the villa is located on a slope, so there are quite a few stairs, but it’s very charming.

United States1) Old house w/ no meaningful investments in the last 20+ yrs. 2) Although the posting says they are close to the beach, you cannot go to the beach without a car. The walking paths to the beach are not safely accessible to small children. 3) The worst part was the hosts. For all practical purposes, they were not available or helpful. They did not have a hospitality mentality. I would not go as far as calling them hosts. In their minds, we had a transaction that has ended with us paying for the house and they had no responsibility for our stay. 4) On the posting it says airport taxi can be arranged. Until you ask. Then, the day of the flight they tell you, they cannot order a taxi. After we found the taxi company the driver said the address we were given does not exist. We had to call the host (and pray she will pick us since the previous 2 days the phone on the reservation was out of coverage) and she explain the driver where to go. When we arrive, the host told us that there is a big problem with the address of the house?! That should be on the posting and told ahead of time to all guests. This house has 3 different addresses and the one that taxi drivers understand is the 4th - to tell them where you are based on adjacent buildings. In other words, none of the 3 addresses work. 5) 4 -bedroom home for 8 people and were given only one set of keys. We needed at least 2. 6) Told there are mosquitoes and asked upon arrival to address that problem in the rooms by going to the store to buy oils for the rooms. 7) Told to buy dishwashing capsules for the machine. 8) No working internet. 9) Missing working cutting knives & ice cube shapes (no ice) 10) When the airconditioner broke did not take ownership to fix. We had to stay with the guy. He asked us to pay?! 11) Never responded to my outreach for help when I got lost in the dark w/ my baby. 12) No assistance barbecuing when asked. 13) Taxies do NOT come to pick you up. They do not like this location.
The house is big and spacious. Each room has a bathroom, which was really nice. 2 of the rooms have small balconies with a great view. The pool was perfect depth and clean. All but one of the rooms have working air conditioners that although extremely old still maintained cool temperatures. The location was 20 - 30 minutes from the airport, which was good. The house had dishwasher and a washing machine. It also had a fully equipped kitchen.
