Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsBeautiful location, friendly owners. For a longer stay you may find the studio kitchenette a bit too small. Perfect for a short stay.

IrelandWe would have appreciated some tea or coffee available on arrival, but I understand that is less common in Belgium. The shower drain was blocked and caused minor flooding in the bathroom but we cleared up with plunger provided.
Friendly host. Excellent reception. Lovely location.

United States of AmericaThe pictures are woefully misleading. Everything is overgrown, dusty and full of cobwebs. It's one structure that's been divided so get ready to share the outside space and open air. There's no air conditioning so having the windows open is obligatory but our downstairs neighbors were smokers so all their smoke would waft into our only opening (the balcony door). The balcony was covered in cobwebs, almost every corner had cobwebs. The upstairs toilet is tiny and difficult for anyone who's tall to sit comfortably. Upstairs shower was a tiny tub with no curtain to prevent water from splashing everywhere and standing is impossible because it's positioned on the roof slant so the beam is right there to hit your head. I feel bad leaving a negative review but I wouldn't have stayed here if I'd known the state of the place. The pillows were all mismatched (some hard as rocks, some barely offering support). The couch is sagging, the TV didn't work, the WiFi signal was spotty. The induction cooktop was finicky; at times it recognized our fingertip pressing and other times it wouldn't, or the lock feature would activate and removing it took a ton of patience and a tiny prayer to deactivate. All that being said, if you don't have kids or don't really mind something a little beat up, the price is right and the owner is great. Otherwise, choose something at a higher price point and learn from my mistake.
We stayed in the "Mere". Towels were provided, kitchen was fairly well stocked with utensils and such, downstairs was spacious, opening ALL the windows (including the skylights) created a great breeze throughout the space. Met the owner at check-in, he was very kind and helpful.

Location is ok, nice, calm and silent. The property owners Jan and Tamara are very kind and did everything to help us in some needs, even not related to the apartment staying. If we even come back in Torhout we'll come back here for sure.

United KingdomNo hand soap or washing up liquid provided, which was quite annoying especially when you first arrive and you don't have any with you. I also read the info wrong and didn't realise it was a studio apartment - when it says you've got the whole apartment to yourself, it makes it sound much grander than it is. But it was literally dining table and beds in the same room, small kitchen, toilet and shower room. This is a smaller part of a much bigger place. There was no sand pit which is shown in the pictures. There was also loads of flies on the ceiling - I guess not really the owner's fault but not very nice. The rest of the apartment was clean though and the lady that met us was very nice and understanding when the microwave handle broke. For the price it is, I guess it's all you can expect...although still a bit expensive in my eyes.. but then everything is, these days!
