Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

IrelandThe hostel seemed very cluttered with stuff everywhere. Our room was advertised as a double room but had a double bed and a single. As we were travelling as a group of three we booked a single bed in a dorm which we could have avoided.
The staff were very accommodating when we checked in early. All the guests were very friendly and there was a great atmosphere with everyone sitting around watching a movie together.

NetherlandsThe rooms were way too small for the amount of people. Also the AC barely worked and the fan didn't work at all so it was too hot to sleep. We asked the staff to look into it but they didn't. The rooms were also a total mess with peoples stuff being absolutely everywhere. It looked like people were permanently staying there instead of just spending the night. We stayed at douzens of hostels in Asia for a tenth of the price we payed at Shiralee and this was by far the worst hostel we had during our 8 months of traveling. We eventually skipped our last three nights to stay at a hotel nearby. Avoid at all cost!

FranceWe wanted to extend our stay by a week but the lack of accommodation cost us our place at the Shiralee Hostel and we had to leave, it's a pity that some long stays are not prioritized... but it was also up to us to trust the Shiralee Hostel and to book directly for a longer duration!
It feels like home at Shiralee Hostel ! The people who work there are very available, very nice and the people you meet there become real friends. It's a human-sized hostel, and it's really pleasant. All the spaces are well thought out, the living room is very pleasant, the kitchen allows you to cook together and to meet even more people. There is a good free breakfast too. I slept in a private room which was really nice, but the dormitories look just as comfortable. No problems with cleanliness, everything is cleaned very regularly and travellers generally take care of it. There are enough bathrooms to ensure that there are never any problems with showers when you are in a hurry. You are close to everything at Shiralee Hostel, the CBD is really only a 20 minute walk away and there are lots of bars, restaurants, etc around. I recommend Shiralee Hostel 100% !!!

AustraliaThe room is so basic: bed and bedside table. Bedsheets, blanket and pillows need to be upgraded. Noise of people talking and the sound of shutting the door late at night till 11.30pm were the most annoying even the hostel has very strict rules (sign on the door .etc). It is how it is bcuz of young people staying.. totally understand.
The staff friendly and approaches Walking distance to china town and about 20min to city. The kitchen is well equipped as I few are doing cooking (I didn't use the kitchen facility)

All round an excellent experiance The owner Charlie, is most accommodating, welcoming ( as are the staff) who try exceptionally hard to find creative solutions to any issues. Excellent value ( which includes breakfast till 12pm), and the facilities (whilst not new ) are more than adequate. The overall atmosphere is extremely cordial and friendly, and it is perfectly situated, close to all amenities, and the Northbridge bustling lifestyle, of cafes ,bars and clubs, but in a quiet street. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Cheers.
