Old mahogany furniture and wallpapered walls reminded me of my grandparents house! A little weathered and dirty in places, although with a name like Sir Stamford they are no doubt aiming for that old England vibe. It was without subscription TV services, which these days should be mandatory for a 5 star rating.

Excellent location, an easy 2 minute walk to Circular Quay. The room was very spacious and functional, big enough to install a wall and make it a one bedroom apartment. Comfy bed and quiet room provided a good night's sleep.

As stated above it's a bit dated and their is a lack of plugs. It's also a bit old school so the staff can come across as a bit reserved. but ultimately it is a great location and nice hotel.

The Sir Stamford is a classic old school hotel for good and bad. It's the kind of hotel that was top of its class during your grandparents heyday. That's not bad and it certainly is very nice but it's a bit stuffy and there's a lack of plugs and outlets because back then they didn't foresee needing to plug in phones, laptops, chargers, etc. But the decor has a charm and the location is AMAZING. Basically the closest hotel to the opera house and right by the quay. So walking to sites is super convenient.

Not sure if it was deodorant or cleaning product but there was a smell around the lift/lobby that was a bit over powering.

Lighting in lounge area could have been better. Limited selection for TV - no Netflix, Foxtel etc channels, ceiling in shower area had paint chipping away.

Room 614/ TWNB - Spacious bathroom, comfortable bedding, cleanliness, had everything we needed. Location to Circular Quay. Efficient & friendly staff, parking, breakfast.

It is old heritage building so it reeks of mould everywhere including car park, lobby and even when we first got into the room. There was no smart TV and they only had a few lamps without central lights. No mini bar/refrigerator in the room.

I booked this hotel to see the Vivid so the location was perfect. Staffs are friendly and beds were comfortable too Breakfast wasn't bad.

The only issue was the room had a damp smell but it went as soon as we opened the balcony door up for a bit, which was also a bonus to have fresh air.

The ambience of the property is exactly what we wanted. The staff was very attentive. Although a little worn, the suite was in excellent condition.

Lighting was poor and hard to read unless you sat right beside a lamp. One day our Rimmer did not get serviced at all and another we had to call at the reception desk in the afternoon and ask for it to be done as it had not been serviced again
