Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. AustraliaWell there is multiple things that were a problem. It’s advertised as a 2 bedroom but actually the second bedroom is in the lounge room with a screen. There is minimal cooking facilities microwave didn’t work 1 hot plate then a bbq which is ok. Sink is the laundry tub. One afternoon Jan the manager that lives on the property abused us for noise (3pm) because our 2 adult sons and our 3 year old granddaughter were enjoying the pool. Then went onto tell us that we can’t have visitors AT ALL!!! At no point did we make noise after 9:30pm and most of the time we were away from the property. The pool wasn’t clean after this afternoon ( see pictures)
Location was great as it was close proximity to family and friends. That’s why I booked it. It also allowed other family members to stay at same property.

AustraliaJan's attitude to having guests come over to visit at 3pm in the afternoon & complaining about noise , When you have paid for the holiday to see family . We are non smokers & they smoke in their residence next to the one bedroom apartment & our room stunk of smoke the whole time. Got in trouble for leaving air conditioning on for the day but it was the only way to get rid of the smell. They are quick to have signs in the room for guests not to smoke in the rooms . May practice what you preach.

AustraliaIt was nothing like the photos , if I had not paid for it before I arrived I would not have stayed! For the money we paid we expected better , it was like staying with a relative in the granny flat and just put bare minimum things to get you through very disappointing ! You had to was up in a laundry tub next to a washing machine and dryer that were broken and just left there ! Not worth my hard earned money !
