There was nothing I could fault honestly!

The shared facilities were some of the cleanest we have seen backpacking and their were activities on every night which was such a nice touch because it made everything affordable. Happy hour with $5 drinks and $6 pizzas was a particular highlight! We were also so kindly given a free room upgrade from a shared dorm to a private as we were a couple, we were so so grateful to have our private space after shared dorms for so long! Thank you! ❤️

Clean facilities and really modern. The kitchen was massive and easily accessible. Overall immaculate vibe and cosy. Also very central location. Had events every night too so created quite a tight knit feel.

The bed was quite a shaky construction. I stayed in the top bunk and tried not to move since the whole bed was shaking. When I wanted to brush my teeth, 2 twenty something years old were doing it on the sink. Pretty disgusting.

Room was a bit dusty, could give a little bit more attention to the cleanliness of the room as they would be nailing it then. Otherwise though it was lovely.

The location of the property is so convenient. It is located right in the centre of Byron. Bed was comfortable. Balcony was a nice size. Bathroom clean. Room overall was clean and we were provided with clean towels daily. Lovely chilled vibe. Rooftop bar was a lovely touch.

We’ve stayed in a 4 bed room and it was honestly amazing for a hostel. Very clean, competent staff and great kitchen. Nice rooftop bar with free pool table, bed big enough for people 6ft + and good pillows.

It could be a bit loud at night from time to time, with doors slamming, and people talking in the corridors, although this was never for long, it did wake me up. Although my dorm was right next to the bathroom so I think that increased the foot traffic outside! (There were signs saying to be quiet and respectful of other guests). The bathrooms, specifically the showers, could be cleaned a bit better, there was frequently hair on the drain etc. But it didn’t feel particularly dirty, just could do with more attention.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay here. The beds were really comfy, the under bed locker boxes were a plus, as was the curtain on the bed. Plenty of floor space in my 4 bed dorm. Bathrooms were decent, the showers had space in there where you could change afterwards without getting everything wet, so that was plus! There were activities on every night, I didn’t attend any while I was there but would have been keen to go to the yoga and games night! The staff were so lovely and very accommodating, couldn’t fault their kindness and professionalism. The kitchen is huge, also very busy, although that was around the weekend, so during the week it might be a bit quieter. The location was absolutely perfect. Would definitely recommend staying here, I did three nights and would have loved to stay longer!

The Surf House is a great budget place to stay if visiting Bryon. The staff are friendly, the facilities are excellent and the place is clean and quiet. The Wi-Fi works well and there are lots of desks and power points if you also need to do any remote work. It is close to the beach, restaurants and cafes. There is also a (paid) under cover car parking option which is handy.
