Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Australiathe double bed was a nightmare with two people, it kept splitting and we’d fall down the middle, there was no doona, only a sheet and doona cover (???) and there was only two pillows.

AustraliaAir Con did not have a remote & so we could not use it, we asked for one & never received it, so glad it wasn't exceptionally warm. Couch hard as a rock, TV tiny & pretty crappy picture, Shower the smallest I have ever experienced, bedrooms also tiny.
Location was good for where we needed to be, quiet at night. Unfortunately though that's where it ended for us.

AustraliaAccess to rooms was difficult. One of two lifts didn't work and had to wait a long time to get to and from room. Also, beds shoved against a wall. No room to swing a cat!
This apartment was located well. The rest was a little underwhelming.

AustraliaCarpet was wet by bathroom and bedroom (before shower was even used) which meant the room smelled and was very noticeable every time you would enter. Couch not comfortable and some general defects, e.g. Blind Cords not fully screwed into the wall, bathroom door wouldn't close easily (possibly due to water damage related to wet carpet??)
Location was good, staff were friendly and room was a good size for the price..

AustraliaRooms are not as pictured, lobby and lifts are filthy and smelly. No doonas on beds, just one blanket and it's freezing. They do have heaters but if you don't want to sleep with them running it's freezing. The team were great but housekeeping was closed when we asked for extra blankets, they said we would get them the next day, we didn't, we got 6 towels. Not really value for money.
Location was good, team on check in were good. The room we had was internal and looked down on pool and every other room in the complex but because of this the street noise was minimal.

AustraliaThe bed had to be the worst bed I have ever slept in. It was basically a queen bed mattress on top of a double bed base so it flopped over the side. The sheets with one movement removed themselves from the mattress and bunched up. The thinnest of continental quilts, no spare blanket so I was freezing. The quilt barely covered the mattress. If you have a fuller figure, the shower is not for you. Very tiny. The complex is full of uni students so there are signs re rubbish and fines if caught with dumping rubbish. The passageway smelt of cat wee.
Location is great, so close to Vic Market and the CBD.

Australia1. Was placed at ‘Events’ section of the hotel and there was only one operating lift! no signage or heads up about it too. I was there for 4 nights and it seemed normal to only have one operating lift as there are, who I believe are tenants, ignoring the other lift when waiting. 2. Another rant about the lift: you would need at least 5 minutes before you could possibly get into the lift. 2. Pillows were thin. 3. I had to ask for some of the items i assumed were supposed to be in the room i.e hairdryer, and the receptionist asked me to get them from reception 4. quite disturbing as full bins are getting loaded into such tiny-spaced lifts with 6 other people in the lift.

AustraliaThere were quite a number of things I noticed which should have been maintained better in a room advertised as a penthouse - there were a number of knocks, dings and missing paint all over the place. The couch was really cheaply made and not comfortable at all. There was a small selection of body wash/shampoo which was nice, but they were missing a toothbrush/razor/shower hair net which you'd usually expect in a $200/night room and i was expecting since i didn't bring a toothbrush. Worst of all was the presence of black mould in the bathroom in the ceiling tiles, which i didn't take a photo of, but i probably should have. The lifts were also graffitied and smelt of smoke even though there's a no-smoking policy.
Room had a great view of the city, located close to the lifts. It was clean and spacious and there were plenty of utilities available. The shower was nice and large and water heated up quickly. The bed had plenty of pillows and was nice and large albeit a little firm, but my partner liked it.

IrelandI felt the property was a bit run down; they were in the middle of renovations, but there were wear and tear marks in the bathroom, the kitchen, and the living room area of my room. One of the elevators broke during my stay. The other tenants / guests on the sixth floor were quite loud in the evenings, causing a ruckus in the hallways. There was not much soundproofing, so I could hear whenever someone was using the pool outside or moving around in the room above me. The fire doors were sometimes propped open with a door stopper or a cone, which was unsafe.
The location in Melbourne was great; it was right next to a tram line that ran into the CBD. The kitchen was well supplied with a pot, a pan, a chopping board, plates, bowls, and cutlery.
