Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere is nothing that I did not like. I am not a fan of dried flower arrangements due to allergies and that is not the hosts fault.
Centrally located. In a quiet area. It was very clean and well stocked breakfast. The breadmaker was on with fresh bread and fresh fruit. We received clear and concise instructions to where the property was. Very much appreciated our own space with no disturbances. The interior was eclectic in a fun and playful way.

Everything about the accommodation exceeded my expectations. I've never been to a place that provides so much food for breakfast, it was well stocked with everything, comfortable, old worldly & homely.

AustraliaAroma Cottage is in a very quiet location, opposite parks and near the lake and is ideal for a couple wanting a base in Ballarat. The cottage is very clean and has a massage chair and bath/shower that are good to use. The décor is eclectic so check out the photos if you are bothered by that. We greatly enjoyed our stay and Jenny the host was lovely, putting the heaters on for us and ensuring fresh bread greeted us on arrival. The garden was lovely too.

AustraliaThis is a comment rather than a criticism. The property does not have a "view" as such, as it is a two bedroom unit which is behind the main house. I found the peace and quiet more than made up for this. If you are really keen, you could take a couple of folding chairs and sit in Victoria, which is quite literally 50 metres from the front door.
Great location in a quiet area, with everything you need within walking distance. Unit does not have a dishwasher or a washing machine, but you can use the laundry anytime. Amazing shower, which also does service as a sauna and spa. Jenny is a great host, and supplied everything I needed for breakfast. Victoria Park is directly over the road if you want to go for a walk. Unit has a smart TV, and a stable and reliable WiFi connection. Overall, if you want to get away for a few days, and really relax and get the stress levels down, this is an excellent choice.

AustraliaNothing.
The location was great for what I needed. Close to town Centre 6 min drive. Victoria park right at front door. Quiet Neighbour hood. Apartment had car port for car right at front door. Apartment nice and clean and tidy. Everything you need for a short or long stay. Host very nice and quick responses. Nice hot bread and plenty of food for a breakfast supplied. Nice shower, spa and bidet toilet. Would stay again if back in Ballarat and available at the time.

AustraliaBeautiful garden on arrival, and the host was the most lovely person. She turned on the bread maker for us and gave us an overveiw of the place. Incredible massage chair, and incredible spa pod (the coolest thing I've ever been in). Can't reccomend this place enough.

AustraliaCan't think of anything. The hostess was attentive but not intrusive. There's a secluded carport (no charge) for your use. (I'm adding things I liked for want of room in the box above,)
Surprising. Unique. Where to start? The professional massage chair, the massage bed, a toilet seat such as you find in high-end hotels in Japan, the shower cum massage shower cum spa cum I don't know what, all in a giant red pod. (How did they get it into the bathroom?) It has to be seen to be believed. And the more conventional facilities were there in abundance: quality carpets, drapes & towels (plenty of them), two (2!) large-screen TVs (in addition to the smaller one in the spa pod), plenty of cutlery & crockery (all matching sets), lots of kitchen utensils, and the breakfast supplies: a bowl of eggs (from the chooks outside the kitchen window?), a dish of jam (homemade?), muffins, croissants, three types of cereal, bread, butter, lots of milk, a well stocked pantry .... What a contrast to two apartment hotels in central Sydney & Melbourne that we stayed in during the same trip. We had a most pleasant week in Ballarat.

AustraliaThere was absolutely nothing not to like. The host Jennifer prepared us with all essential information by SMS prior to our arrival. We were received warmly and provided with more detail and local information. As a result it was easy to embrace the ambiance of the cottage from the very first step indoors.
The breakfast options were well thought out. More than enough food was provided for the duration of our stay. The fresh baked loaf in the bread maker on arrival was very much appreciated. Discovering eggs in the fridge which came from the chickens in the backyard was a real treat. The attention to detail regarding every aspect of the furnishings and facilities of the cottage and garden surrounds was beyond exceptional. The spa/sauna was both entertaining and refreshing after a busy day of sightseeing. Finding relaxation was very easy.

Everything! Was contacted a few days prior to booking to choose our breakfast options. Was given instructions on keys and safe. There were print outs explaining anything we MIGHT need to know about the remotes and how to operate things. It was lovely self contained, clean, comfy and warm place to stay! And the beds were super comfy too! :)
