Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great location just over 10 minutes (in ski boots with skis) to the lift or bus stop to Kaprun. Good pizzeria if you don't fancy cooking round the corner. Simple place, but clean and comfortable. Lidl also opposite the pizzeria ( 3 minutes from flat). Host was flexible with our check in as our fly was changed and we arrived late. Great communication with host.

North MacedoniaFirst of all, just before arriving, we were asked to pay extra costs (city tax+deposit), and on top of it, extra costs for the child's age that were wrongly registered by booking when the reservation was made. We booked and paid for the apartment, and we have not booked per person. We had no choice but to accept this a few hours before our arrival because we would be sleeping on the street. And this was 30% on top of the actual price agreed via booking. The apartment is not comfortable, and it is cold all the time. There is no oven, only a microwave. The bedroom was built to the balcony expansion, and both spaces (the main room with the kitchen and the bedroom) share a single heater. The heater cannot warm the entire apartment. Sleeping in the bedroom near the window is really cold. The maximum temperature we could achieve in the main room was 22 degrees Celsius, while the bedroom averaged 18 degrees Celsius 99% of the time. We were told that this is an average temperature, but as guests, we would appreciate the ability to adjust the thermostat at our leisure. After all, it was our winter vacation, and we expected a cosy and warm flat. When we were in the room, we mostly hid under the blanket. The bed in the bedroom is not king-size, it is a standard double bed. The bathroom has no windows or ventilation. The main room has no windows. The only window is in the bedroom, and the lights enter the main area through it. It felt quite claustrophobic. The location isn't proper. Although there are groceries nearby, the ski lift is a 20-minute walk away thus, we need to drive every day. The nearest bus station linking to Zell AM See's core is a 13-minute walk away.
The host was super responsive; she immediately changed the coffee machine after we reported that it was not working. Also, when we reacted about the heating, the owner immediately came with the intention to solve the problem, but it was beyond her capacity to find the solution because she could not bring in an extra heater. The host also agreed to return the deposit which we paid during our stay in person instead of keeping our money booked for another week.
