It's on the 47th floor! But thankfully has lifts, and this makes for a nice view

Very friendly hostel, bunks had curtains so was nice and private. Private bathrooms too, nice to be able to lock the door and have a toilet, sink and shower in the one space in a hostel. Check in was easy, they gave me good restaurant recommendations and even shared some of their dinner with me!

Besides being my first solo female trip it was also my first experience in a hostel. I didn't know what to expect and I wasn't 100% sure if it was the right choice. Needless to say, I would go back there without a second thought. I had a great time at Papaya. The guys made me feel at home. We had a great time and really enjoyed our time together. Thanks to the owners Shaaz and Naved and thanks to all the other guys I had the pleasure of meeting: Ayoub, Mustafa, Irfan and our two Egyptian cooks. A special thanks goes to Papaya (the parrot) who hated me from the first to the last day. 😂

One downside of staying in a hostel run by volunteers is that the service quality can be pretty inconsistent. Since volunteers come and go frequently, there’s often a lack of continuity in how things are managed. Some volunteers are really passionate and helpful, but others might not be as experienced or committed, which can affect everything from cleanliness to the overall atmosphere. Overall, while the laid-back, community vibe of a volunteer-run hostel can be charming, it can also lead to a more chaotic and less reliable experience.

Staying in Papaya felt like a trip back to my dorm days in the USA. The place was filled with people from all over the world, and it had that same vibe of late-night conversations, in the common areas, about anything and everything. It was like living in a mini United Nations, where I was constantly meeting new people, swapping travel stories, and picking up bits of different languages. Sharing a room with strangers who quickly started to feel like old friends—it was chaotic, unpredictable, and such a blast. Honestly, it gave me all the nostalgic feels from my college days.

Depending on what you want to visit in Dubai it's not very close to the mall or old Dubai. But if you wanna hang at the beach it's well located

I had a fantastic stay at Papaya Backpackers in Dubai! The vibe was incredibly welcoming, and the staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home. The owners of this fantastic hostel are from Rajasthan, and their warmth and hospitality are truly remarkable. They go out of their way to make every guest feel at home, and their genuine care makes the stay incredibly comfortable. The cleanliness of the hostel is top-notch: everything is always tidy and fresh, which is pleasantly surprising. A special mention must go to the parrot named Papaya – he's absolutely amazing! This colorful and friendly bird has become a true star of the hostel. His playful nature and entertaining tricks never fail to lift the spirits of all guests.
