Sandakan
Situated amidst abundant greenery, Sepilok Nature Lodge - Formerly known as Sepilok Nature Resort is a haven for nature lovers. It has a restaurant, and offers complimentary WiFi access in its public areas. The staff here was really welcoming, friendly, helpful and happy. Receptionist, cleaners and restaurant workers all did their best to make our stay a pleasant experience and greeted us with a smile. They offered their trips but never pushed them too much. The location is just perfect, because you can access the main attraction by walking. Orangutan and sunbear center are just 5 minutes walking distance away and we also visited rainforest center by walking. Rooms are surrounded by a lovely jungle-like forest and view from the restaurant is super beautiful and relaxing. There are frogs that make a noise 24/7, but that is expected since you are in the forest. Our chalet (#11) was almost perfect for us. We could see the restaurant and even though wifi reached our room, the connection was pretty bad in the room but worked fine outside. Shower had a good water pressure and we always had warm water. Room had AC and fan. We didn’t use the AC during the night because it was pointed direct at the bed. That being said, fan was more than enough. There is also a safety box that worked fine. The restaurant is great but the kitchen is not open all the time. The chef really knows their craft and the place served us some of the best food of our trip. The cocktails were delicious and beautiful and we liked how they added their own twist to classic cocktails. This is not the cheapest restaurant, but we felt that we get good value for the money. The waiters always had time for us and answered our questions whether it was about the food, how to say things in Malay or which reptiles live in the pond. Receptionists helped us with all things possible and they, too, entertained us with chit-chat when we had downtime. Highly recommended!

Also, the room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The shower was hot and we had everything we needed. We had two adjoining rooms which was very convenient for our family.

The scenery was beautiful and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. There was an unforeseen issue with our room which they were very good about. The two restaurants were wonderful - the teppanyaki evening was superb and highly recommend. The snorkelling was decent and the kayaking was fun although you can just use the same equipment around the resort without cost.
Great location close to the sanctuaries. The environment in the resort is amazing, you can have a walk around and feel like in the jungle and take a rest around the pool. You can go bird watching or join a night walk, the staff is really friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very nice too. I totally recommend it.
6-pax dorm with separate shower room. There were 4 shower rooms. Hair dryer is available. Room is air conditioned. Mattress is firm. Walking distance to RDC. Restaurant in the resort is ok. Breakfast is included and is rather good.
In the middle of building up resort not entirely finished. Very beautiful place and friendly staffs. We definitely come again next time.
Beautiful tropical island resort. Accommodation was quite luxurious albeit pricey. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant very good.
The resort as a whole. Facilities were great for the whole family
The staff was nice and helpful. The location is dreamy and the beach by the resort was spotless.
The pool was nice and there was also a small kids pool with a short water slide that our little ones enjoyed. The location was also amazing. The place is nestled into the jungle and we were able to observe monkeys, birds and snakes (from a safe distance) on the grounds of the resort. The ponds in the resorts had some impressive fish and the kids loved looking out for wildlife. It is also very close to the Orang Tan sanctuary and the Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Best place I have ever stayed. This was the most amazing experience. The rooms had a balcony and you could see the whole jungle, watch the animals and the sounds were beautiful. It was like a luxury jungle experience. The common area was also lovely! Met lots of other travellers and the food was exceptional. The staff were also so friendly! The shuttle is great, goes to sepilok and picks you up. This was by far better than any of the other resorts by the centres. I will deffo go back.
food was delicious (even buffets) staff was very nice family resort but quite for adults beach and sea very nice concierge staff very professional .. thank you
