Feels like a hidden gem and private paradise. Great dive shop with charismatic guides, nice boat, sufficient equipment. Great to wake up to a view of Mt Kinabalu and all the food was really lovely home cooking and tasted great. It felt like living in a little community for a couple of days :)

Set 7 km from Kota Kinabalu, it features free WiFi throughout and free parking is provided. such an amazing property and amazing staff - particularly Gloria at Coco Joe’s - she was incredible! my friend and I joked that this is the perfect romantic holiday. honestly everything about this place is incredible if you are seeking to put your phone down, catch up with a loved one, family or friends, and chill out. we climbed Mount Kinabalu in the middle of our stay and the hotel kindly looked after our baggage for us free of charge.

There is free private parking and the property offers paid airport shuttle service. Great little spot in a jungle neighborhood. Super friendly owners. We were hungry when we arrived and they were making chicken curry for their lunch, and added us to the preparations. Very unique location. I slept really well then off the next day for diving.

Sepilok Forest Edge Resort is a nature retreat in Sandakan, a 15-minute walk from the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Providing rooms in a natural environment, it has a plunge pool and free Wi-Fi in restaurant area. The Sepilok Forest Edge Resort is definitely one of the best hotels where we stayed during our two-week Borneo trip. Its location right at the entrance to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center is unbeatable. The hotel grounds themselves are spacious and the bungalows are not clustered together, making it wonderfully quiet. We stayed in one at the very back with a view into the jungle. We have never seen so many different monkeys strolling by as we did there. Simply incredible to be surrounded by nature like that. The rooms themselves are large, very clean and the bed is super comfortable. The partially outdoor bathroom is spacious enough and equipped with everything you need. The entire resort is extremely peaceful and calming. The restaurant serves many Western dishes, including plenty of vegetarian options, which we appreciated as it can be difficult to find a wider selection of vegetarian food in this part of the world. We would have loved to stay longer.
