A wonderful glimpse back to the past heyday of booming onsen resorts, but in a far less apocalyptic town than Kinugawa just down the road/river. Hotel is definitely showing its age, but is run by a lovely lady and the japanese style room was huge and has everything you need for a comfy stay.
I highly recommend doing the hike directly behind the hotel up and down the hill, as it can turn into a great loop walk around and through the village if you take the river down to the dam crossing.
Warm recommendation. Great hotel. A very spacious room with a view of the lake. Dinner at the level of a luxury restaurant and a very good breakfast.
A pampering hot spring.
A sense of personal attention from the manager and staff.
A highly recommended hotel.
Resort is away from the city in an onsen area that is excellent for relaxation. Walking around the hotel and lake areas was excellent. Service, especially the restaurant service, was flawless. Traditional Japanese meals in the hotel were fantastic. Shuttle bus provides the convenience getting in and out of the hotel from the Tobu-Nikko station (check pick up time).
Excellent Onsen resort. All the staffs are very nice and professional. Me and my family had a wonderful time. Highly recommended. The Food excellent. I've been to many onsen resort in Japan, the food offer in this resort is the best.
very pretty location and lovely restaurant. it could probably use an upgrade across the board for a higher rating. seemed a little dated. pool was nice but limited and not that large. it was more like a convention hotel than a luxury resort. but staff were so nice and helpful
