Found it to be over rated. Pay a lot for what you get. Lots litter on beach. Pizza at Poa Poa cafe great. Good at New Bagamoyo Beach Resort good.
Tanzanian governement want to invest in Bagamoyo and it s a good choice because ot s a beautiful place but without tourism
It is laid back, atmospheric and most probably could not compare with Stone Town in Zanzibar, but I like it! Nice drop off point if driving from up north and don't want to arrive in Dar too late in the day. Have a few days in Bagamoyo instead to freshen up and get into the coast frame of mind.

Going to Bagamoyo is a trip to a town where the time stands still and Firefly is located directly in the middle! The old house with its vintage charme and very nice people, the fishermen with their dhow boats directly in front and the fishmarket close by. You can observe and watch the whole day and find interesting people in a unique scenery. We had live music on Saturday and it was a relaxed and joyful evening.
