Very nice place to be visited on September-October right after the monsoon Currently there are huge constructions in the city which make your GPS crazy However large avenues with easy traffic See the farms with the coconut, the bananas and the papaya trees White sand beaches are empty but the sea is very dangerous The traditional Souq is boring, focused at 95% on Frankincense products Surroundings East and North are very interesting. Don't miss Mirbat, the Baobab forest (not easy to find), the Frankincense forest, the spings, the caves We had gorgeous grilled fresh fish in Mirbat harbor All the traditional Dhofari houses have been unfortunately destroyed

Small old town with a great deal of history if you are willing to dig deep enough. Its tourism potential isn't well established, nor is information readily available but it has interesting links back to the old spice route and incredible history related to the Dhofar War in the 1970s.....the location of one of the most famous battles in British SAS history. Great views of Jebel Shaman on a clear day

Our experience at Hilton was very good, room is spacious, beds are comfortable, sea view from the room was fabulous, house keeping was good. Breakfast and dinner at Maha Restaurant was delicious, Mr. Shadith who serve us at Maha Restaurant is nice and good guy and serve us very well. Overall it was fantastic.
