Located in El Remate, 22 miles from Tikal National Park, Posada del Cerro provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. The place is away from the village in a lush greenery and we loved it! Service was super friendly and fast. They even helped us with the transfer to Tikal and back. Our double room was simple but big, with a big terrace with chairs and a hammock to relax and enjoy the greenery / to read etc. Bed was comfortable and had a decent mosquito net. They have a decent menu so we seldom ate breakfast there or had some drinks. The hotel is a walking distance from El Remate so we also walked to visit some restaurants or tienda for some snacks when we wanted to. My favourite thing for sure was the fact it's a little away and in the greenery, little hidden gem. Because it's close to the bioreserve, it was wonderful to hear the sounds of nature and especially have our first experience with howler monkeys howling 🙂 I would recommend it for sure.

Breakfast is very good and we had 2 delicious dinners as well. The staff is very nice and we had a great bird watching walk with Oscar. We can definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back.

The hotel nestled among trees over looking the lagoon. Our room was at the end and was so beautifully built. Everything including the floor was in wood and looks like a mahogany. Inside is a spacious room with double bed, an area to work if you want to, who does? But it haa an indoor jacuzzi overlooking a gorgeous view of the lagoon. All open with glass windows and doors. An absolute gem.

The town of Flores was not what I had expected. Not much going on in the day. Looks like it comes alive at night with the younger backpackers and locals. We only found one small shop with local artists during the day. You can stay along the lake Peten for your visit to Tikal there are a few nice places however the town wasn't great and Tikal is an hour away from Flores.
Flores is a nice place to stay in Peten. It is basically a base to explore the lake, Tikal, and other Mayan ruins. We spent a day on the lake, a day at Tikal, and one strolling Flores. Overall, it felt about right. If you don't go for the "night life" yourself, pick your hotel carefully. Some are next to all night parties on the weekend.
Flores is incredible for the night life and having a romantic dinner or a sunset cruise along the island crossing the Peten Itza Lake!!!
I think Flores, Peten has grown a lot since my last trip. There are a lot of good hotels, prices are from low to very expensive. So there is a wide variety to choose from. There are a lot of good restaurants too, plus the food vendors on the street sell good food too. There are a lot of activities to engage in, from taking tours to all the different Mayan parks, to bicycle rides or kayaking the Peten Itzá Lake. It is a family friendly town too.
Flores
Flores island is really tiny so it’s just 5-6 minutes walk from the shuttle drop off point (I love Petén sign) to the hostel. There’s a small kitchen with 4 gas hobs + fridge + coffee machine + clean plates and utensils + spices. Refillable water provided. The family helps to wash the dishes for us which is really nice. There are 2 shared toilets outside and a shower, and they’re clean. Bed was clean and decent but I didn’t have a good sleep because it was toooooo hottttttt in the room
This hotel is truly remarkable. Its architecture not only dazzles the eye but also ingeniously combats Petén's high temperatures. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and the hotel's "no music" policy preserves its serene atmosphere, offering a perfect escape from city life. We especially adore the tranquil lake harbors for swimming and relaxation. The f ood they gave us was also great!
This hotel has it all. Comfortable, simple yet stylish and very clean rooms, very friendly and helpful stuff, amazing drinks and food on the top floor with stunning views. Located in the middle of little and colorful Flores this hotel is a peaceful retreat which allows to regain the energy and spirit to explore Lake Petén Itzá, enchanting Tikal and all the rest that stunning Peten has to offer.
Excellent hotel to get away from it all - a beautiful place on two lakes, with trails, activities, a lovely pool and facilities and a great restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. We saw incredible wildlife exploring the surrounding jungle. We ended up not leaving the hotel on our stay in Peten!

The location is very nice, the staff was friendly and there is a travel agency inside that makes it very easy to book basically everything you would like to do in Petén area. Food is good, but a bit expensive. The atmosphere was great and we had a private room which was very good and clean. There is a storage room and a Jacuzzi.
The Hotel has a good location and you can reach everything on Peten by foot. The serve a good breakfast and everything is very clean. The rooms are nice and big and you feel at home. We recommend to stay at the Hotel because its nice, clean and has a very nice view on the lake. Also the pool was clean and nice.
kudos to the staff! They were nice to accommodate the pick-up at Flores late at night, the staff is amazing and friendly, the included breakfast was delicious, and we got the Luxury Village that includes a jacuzzi. it is a great location to enjoy Peten Itza lake
Property location is good and it is 2 blocks walk to the lake Peten. Also near to fruits, vegetable shops and a pharmacy. the staff were really helpful. One of my family member was I’ll and hotel staff helped to get medicine for us from the near by pharmacy.
The ad pictures. The breakfast offered in Hotel Petén was good. Don't get confused, this hotel is extremely loud too. This company owns fours hotels on the island and all of them either are extremely noisy, have a humidity level above acceptable or both.
The views from our super clean room made this hotel one of the most enjoyable stays we had in the Petén of Guatemala. The views overlooking Lake Petén Itza toward the little village of San Miguel made it a quiet and serene experience.

Mon Ami is one of only a very few hotels with a swimming pier. The water of Lago Peten Itza is warm and crystal clear . El Remate is paradise.
