Set in a 19th-century building, The Sands Hotel, Orkney is situated along the shore of Scapa Flow in Burray village. It has a bar, a restaurant and beautiful sea views. The staff was wonderful. They were welcoming, gracious and extra-accommodating. We arrived later than the restaurant was open, but they were willing to stay open and serve us from the Bar Menu (which was delilcious). The entire stay was delightful.

Fantastic breakfast with the chef cooking a perfect fried egg for a very fussy person and amazing porridge with rhubarb compote.

The style and decoration of the hotel were lovely and useful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The staff was very thoughtful and kind.

Situated on the Orkney Island, 14 miles from Kirkwall, Smithfield Hotel offers 3-star accommodation with free parking, a bar, and a restaurant. Kirkwall airport is 30 minutes’ drive away. A wonderful place to stay as long as you don't mind driving. It was semi centrally located to most sites you may want to visit while in Orkney. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. Breakfast was delicious and prepared to order. The restaurant offered a nice variety of meals for dinner as well as beer, wine, and cocktails. The tv room/lounge was always available if you wanted somewhere to unwind. The staff was also kind enough to allow me to stay there a couple of hours after checkout while awaiting my ferry. I highly recommend this hotel.

Located on the shore of Harray Loch and family-run for over 30 years, the Merkister Hotel is a 15-minute drive from the main towns of Kirkwall and Stromness. Loved the breakfast and the views where amazing! Very cozy rooms :)
