Great city to visit everything you need is close by trains buses good shops and restaurants coffee shops and pleasant river walks holds a lot of history sorry to see the lovely old hotel and buildings close by have been distroyed by fire but they are working on it to bring it back to how it used to be love seeing the progress of it all it's going to look great when it's finished Devon is the place to be i know I used to live there.
Small village, friendly locals, great for exploring Devon and surrounding areas. The local pub Cockhaven Arms was fine for meals and an ale.
We loved our day in Lynton and Lynmouth. Fabulous coastal walk heading out of Lynton with spectacular views. Delicious food and views at the Pavilion Restaurant in Lynmouth. Fun ride on the railway and wonderful Devon Clotted Cream Vanilla ice cream at the top.
Love going to Devon, usually stay at Goodrington but thought we'd give a hotel in Paignton a go. Paignton is a great holiday place for all ages. They are so many lovely places to eat but a personal favorite is Scoffs. If you like your fish and chips then scoffs is the place to go!!
Great stay, plenty of shops and restaurants. We ate at Harry's, Pizza Express and On the Waterfront, all offered plenty of choice and value for money. Easy city to get around. Also travelled around Devon on a 'Devon Ranger Ticket' which was great fun if you like trains.
Attractive waterfront with attractions such as Torre Abby, Torquay museum, Bygne Days exhibition and theatre. Great for pubs and cafes. Lots of boat trips and Cockington Village nearby. Terrific double decker bus and train services with lovely views through Devon countryside to other towns and villages.
Dalton is in the Devon countryside, west of Okehampton, and in UK terms is semi-remote. While there are some A-roads through the area, much of our travel was on B roads and country lanes. It took us about an hour to get to Dalton from the M5 junction at Tiverton. This is both a frustration and part of the charm of the area..... you can’t expect to truly get-away-from-it-all on good roads!
Totnes has some good history points, but can be seen in a half day. It biggest draw is that it is in beautiful South Devon and that the remarkable The Cott Inn is nearby.
Exeter is a lively city with a great historic precinct linked to the commercial shopping district. It has many beautiful side streets, access to some wonderful walking trails and a lot a good restaurant options. We were primarily there to use the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (not a first choice for a visit to Exeter!!), and it is an excellent health care facility. It was easy to walk everywhere and the Devon countryside is on view from various parts of Exeter.
Always enjoy visiting Ilfracombe and the surrounding area - friendly local cinema and a great aquarium. Plenty of great places to eat locally too. Great as a base for exploring North Devon - Exmoor Zoo & Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park both easily accessible.
The room was splendid - with marvellous views of the sea . Very clean and bed comfortable. The bar in the hotel is really cosy with plenty of seats and great views of the garden and the promenade . The food in the restaurant was very good indeed . Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Great location and its art deco vibe was lovely . Plus of course the connections with Agatha Christie . Also it is a stones throw from the railway station where trains can be taken to destinations all over south Devon and beyond .
We use the White Hart regularly. In fact I remember it the way it used to be before it was renovated. Honestly, I miss the nooks and crannies and fireplaces of the old White Hart Hotel and that character has been lost with the renovations. Saying that, the hotel itself is great although the rooms can be a little hit and miss. For this stay, our room was great and QUIET (not always the case) and the beds have always been super comfy. The staff are always friendly. Good old Devon. Some things don’t change.
Stunning hand built shepherds hut which was equipped with impeccable taste and quality. Felicity was the perfect host and had thought of everything. We even had fresh eggs for the morning from her chickens! . Immaculately clean with the little touches of a high end hotel.... perfect. Very friendly farm animals including a dog, cat and horses. The view from the hut is amazing, looking across the Devon hills with incredible sun rises and sun sets.
Very tranquil setting although a little remote. Accommodation was good. Staff very helpful. Lovely views over the surrounding area. Typical very narrow Devon winding lanes with few passing places. Some flooding due to heavy rain. We welcomed the very helpful directions given by the hotel for our arrival as Sat Nat directions more suitable for 4x4 vehicles only. Nearby woodland walks and activities. Nice star lit skies at night.
Staff were very friendly, greeted by a lovely chap on arrival who took us to our room. Hotel was in a great location for us as we stopped there on our way to Devon Cliffs for the night and visited Topsham from there. We had a lovely Sunday roast for our evening meal followed by a few drinks in the bar. Very accommodating to my wife and I and our 16 year old son. Will definitely be going again as it was great value for money.
Crediton
The Location is Great right in the heart of Devon and only a few minutes from Dartmoor National Park and the A30 so easy access to both. The house has wonderful views across the Devon countryside from the Breakfast Room where you can enjoy the fantastic breakfast and wildlife in the garden.Nicola and Kerry are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble with an attention to detail you would expect at a 5 star Hotel!
Newton Abbot
The apartment is ideally situated in near proximity to both Paignton and Torquay where we have family. We also found it easy to access places of interest to us - Totnes, Brixham, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Slapton Sands and Salcombe . We have appreciated the tasteful furniture, the excellently equipped kitchen and many other facilities we were not expecting. A great place to enjoy a holiday in South Devon
We stayed in the Bath Hotel this week for 3 nights. The Hotel is near to the river and to the Harbour. Staff are very friendly and polite. Breakfast was lovely. We have been very pleased with a size of the room and bathroom. Particle see view was great too! I could recommend this place for anyone who is looking for accommodations in Devon. We would definitely go there again.
Great location in the beautiful Devon countryside. Our bedroom was spacious with 2 comfy chairs ( not often found in many hotel rooms these days ). The bed was very comfortable & large. Plenty of storage space aslo for luggage & clothes . The restaurant was excellent with some tables by the window pleasantly overlooking the putting green & country side .
Bideford
The location is perfect, very close to many brilliant locations in North Devon. The apartment is very spacious and clean. It has everything you could need - including tea and coffee facilities. The hosts were very friendly and helpful also. The area is very quiet and peaceful, a real change from London!
Bideford
Well placed to visit North Devon coastline (which is what we were there for) and certainly the best hotel we could have found in Bideford, which is quite small. The staff were very nice and always helpful. The hotel itself is quite nice, in an old school sort of way (big ceilings, patterned carpets, etc...)
My Partner and I drove from Kent down to Devon on Friday, for a family 40th birthday party on Saturday evening . I booked on line the Passage house hotel. Standard room for two night. I also Received an upgrade to a Estuary view room at a discounted rate. Lovely Hotel , staff . And facilities.
Torquay
Nice apartment, comfy and quiet. Located in a safe area, easy to park outside and a quick drive to the centre. Good shower. Kitchen was very small but well equipped for basic cooking. Sharon was very welcoming and replied very quickly to our messages. Good value for money in expensive Devon
Combe Martin
Great apartment, located very close to the seafront. The apartment had everything we needed. The hosts made us feel very welcome, helping take our bags in and our children were delighted with the little surprises left for them. It was a great base to explore the north Devon coast from.
Club family rooms are fantastic, so spacious with a lovely balcony and and amazing views, beds 2/3 are all comfy, Breakfast which we took in the room for a £5 tray charge was delicious, However the greatest advantage this Hotel has imo the best dog friendly hotel around Devon, 👏🏽👏🏽
Bideford
Breakfast was excellent and the Staff were very helpful. Room was lovely and very quiet. The Hotel is situated in a great location in Devon and is steeped in history. All the food prepared is of the brilliant quality that exists in the Devon countryside and surrounding localities.
If you want to stay in Totnes this hotel at the bottom of the town is steeped in its history and easy access to the town and other locations in south Devon. The staff are friendly and the food is great ( we had the breakfast and our dinner there). I would define stay there again.
Westward Ho
This is the second time I've stayed at the West Beach Holiday Apartment's, and I will definitely be coming back. They're clean, comfortable, very well equipped, and a pleasure to stay in. See you in October when I plan to return to Devon again
Great location to explore many places on the North Coast of Devon. Hotel was very clean. Staff were very friendly and the food was great too. Breakfast was lovely but can also recommend the roast . It was delicious and great value with a dessert too.
Ashburton
Kate and Nathan are fantastic hosts! The Breakfast was exceptional. The location is close to the Dartmoor National Park and other popular tourist spots in Devon. Good dining option at the nearby Dartmoor Lodge Hotel. Parking was not an issue.
