Chateau de Picomtal is set in a renovated 14th to 16th century castle overlooking the Serre-Ponçon lake, in the Hautes-Alpes. We had the most wonderful time staying in the Chateau. The Chateau has been restored and shows off stunning views and beautiful grounds and garden. The interior is simply beautiful. Our room was very comfortable and restored to a very high standard. The surrounding area is so incredibly beautiful. We had wonderful meals at a restaurant close by. This stay was probably one of the highlights of our 7 week trip around France.

Hotel Le Faranchin provides a warm welcome in the traditional mountain village of Villar d'Arène. It offers free Wi-Fi, free parking and views of the Meije glacier. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Of particular note, Robin, in the restaurant, and the young blond woman at reception, were charming, helpful and informative. The food was excellent. The village location was beautiful, just a bit isolated.

I loved everything about this place!! Stunningly beautiful. Staff super nice and helpful. Charming decor. Some reviewers said it was dated, but it just looks like a lodge, super cute. It was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was AMAZING. The mattress was a bit firm for my taste, but that's the only tiny negative. I wish we had booked more nights here!!

Location is perfect for skiers, in walking distance to main tele cabins. Parking is available if travelling by car. Apartment exceeded our expectations, with very clever use of limited space and modern kitchen and appliances.
