The hotel was very nice , large rooms , very trendy design. You could hear only the river nearby and I slept with open windows and fresh air. As I was there I went for diner not at the hotel but at the nearby relais château with same owner and 2 stars Michelin. Was a fantastic experience with a place you can dream of. I was very busy since then so had no time to write the review and tonight I learned with great sadness that the chef and owner had passed away. So sad but he created somehow in the middle of nowhere a dream place. Let’s hope the team and his widow continue to carry the flag to this level!

The hotel was not listed on my SatNav so finding it was a bit more difficult - SatNav map probably out of date. Once there the location was good - just round the corner to Clermont Auvergne rugby ground and Bistro! Not far from Puy de Dome - a must see site and well worth the effort!
Good views of the mountains and close to the lake. Suited us for being on the GR4 walking route through the Auvergne but otherwise mostly closed for the summer. Drove to Besse - a delightful village/town for dinner.
St Georges is a small town, but it has a Le Clerc's (no petrol) on the road, just along from the hotel. It has lovely scenery right on the doorstep. A few kilometres down the road is St Flour, which is a bigger, bustling place, set atop a steep hill, accessed via a winding upwards road. We went there to look for a supermarket for some petrol -several found, also Shops, restaurants, hotels. Good place to use as a base for walking, sightseeing etc in the Cantal district of the Auvergne, I should think. We were there for only one night, but it was beautiful.
Beautiful city, mainly a student paradise with prestige university and rural area surrounding in it's Auvergne region. For me, the 'red tram line' which runs on tires (Michelin) is quite interesting to observe. The excursion to mountains and the large green lands is quite enchanting. Overall lovely city :)
Very tranquil and beautiful area. It provides a good location from which to explore what Auvergne has to offer. Only downside is that there aren't that many restaurants in the area. Although I would thoroughly recommend the Auberge de la Forge in neighbouring Glaine-Montaigut.
Very quaint spa town, with all the facilities necessary to make a good base for travelling around to see the sights of that part of the Auvergne. The town itself is very pretty and a pleasant place to spend some time, with the Dordogne - at that stage just a small, lively river- passing through the middle and the mountains all around.
Not a city to seek out but pleasant and a cracking cathedral. Great location for heading out to the superb Auvergne countyrside ( e.g Puy de Dome) and beautiful landscapes. Outskirts dull and unattractive but central square lively and lots of new investment. Great municipal park.
Can't really comment as stayed over just one night en route to the South of France. The view over the Auvergne is beautiful though.
Beautiful old city centre with a maze of little streets and the two edifices perched high on rocks. Within driving distance of the Auvergne, where we did a lovely three hour walk.
Warm and friendly accommodation in an old monastery just a few miles from the motorway and the pretty town of Brioude. Despite the snow outside our room was toasty warm and very comfortable. Excellent dinner d’Auvergne from local produce. Great place for a stopover and we’ve booked for our return journey there.
Vic-sur-Cère
The setup consists of a separate house, with absolutely all amenities and features required for enjoying a home away from home vacation. The location is also great, within walking distance from the village center, as well as perfectly placed for hiking in the region, or visiting a neighboring farm, for some of the best cheese in France: Cantal, Salers or Blue D'Auvergne. Gorgeous surroundings, right in the middle of nature, with a tiny stream behind the house, added to the overall charm to an experience we will certainly repeat!
This hotel can only be described in superlatives, from the moment you are arrive the staff are cheerful and welcoming. a family run hotel, this is reflected in staff relationships. The room was spacious and conveniently located on the first floor with great views acrosss the auvergne; The evening meal was of high quality and very generous, questioning the need for a breakfast in the morning. Salers itself is a worthy venue and the hotel is located close to the entrnce to the village with good parking.
Issoire
We've stayed here before so knew what to expect and it did not disappoint. The apartment is roomy, light and airy. Bed is comfortable. Pictures of the apartment are accurate - what you see is what you get. The town centre is a short walk away for bars and restaurants. The provision of a washing machine is a real bonus. Parking is easy, free and a few short steps away. We only stayed one night but this would be perfect as a base to explore the Auvergne.
Everything was perfect, from the moment we entered the hotel, the smiling and nice receptionnist Majda and then Eric, the chef. It was our first time in Auvergne and it made us want to come back. Everyone was very helpful and always smiling. I will definitely recommend this charming hotel. Breakfast was super, had it on the terrace with the beautiful mountains view, Eric is making you pancakes and eggs with Love.
We arrived rather late after the reception was closed, but no problem. The hotel had made a reservation for us at the restaurant, and first we we had a real 'Auvergne' meal, then the waiter gave us the key and walked us the 50 m to the hotel. Our room was at the first floor with a nice view to the basilisk. Small, but clean and comfortable. You can have breakfast, but we did not.
A lovely hotel in a beautiful location in the Auvergne. We were welcomed by the host who was very friendly and helpful. The room was large and the facilities were clean and comfortable. The room had a balcony with fantastic views to the countryside and mountains. The room was also very quiet. There was also plenty of outside parking available.
This was our second stay at the Midland. We stopped on the way going and back from the Auvergne, taking the train from Paris and renting a car at Vichy. We were very pleas;ed with the hotel on the way there, and were happy to be able to book a room on the way back.

The man at the reception desk was extremely kind and pleasamt. I think his name is Brahim. I highly recommend him. There are 3 restaurants within a 4-5 minute walk- Auberge du Petit Mas, Bistro Régent and Buffalo Grill.
my second visit. the spa is one of the best in the world. the bed is very comfortable. I was lucky to stay on the 3rd floor with est access to the spa. the bar, restaurant and service is great. there was a lovely musician in the bar on Saturday night

Close to highway, ideal to stay overnight on long trip. Room is clean, service is good and quick. Big plus is that you can park the car right in front of the door of the room. Simple but good breakfast starting early in the morning (around 7AM). The room was in a good temperature.
It was right on the lake with lovely view. Staff were helpful and friendly and spoke English! Swimming pool was great asset for us and kids.
