Philippine was very helpful in showing us around the historic site (built by Louis XIV for his mistress), ordering food in french and giving us fantastic travel advice for our trip to Rouen the following day (restaurants, parking, attractions). The place certainly exceeded our expectations given the price, and we definitely recommend it! This hotel is not just a place to sleep, it is an attraction in itself.

We have been pleased to see how well the Château was renovated and how well the modern world facilities were inserted making it as great to be inside as it is to be outside. These are real property comments but of similar, or even greater importance, is the quality of the welcoming toped with unique information provided by the owners. We found many common ground of interest and had great discussion. We even got the privilege of being guided to some of the area highlights. I am usually not an “easy keeper” as horse people state on difficult to manage horses. At Château Saint-Maclou I was an “easy keeper”.

There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. Very warm welcome from the host Benjamin. Beautiful swimming pool, which was a huge surprise. Ample grounds to wander around, including some sequoia trees. Interesting examples of design around the 1800s manor house (including paintings, posters and furniture). My partner was delighted to play with the owner's small dogs and cat, which roamed around the place. Bread and croissants at breakfast were most excellent. Very secure property, including with key to open gate to drive and grounds. We thought this was very good value for money.

Located in Acquigny, just a 2-minute walk from the castle, L’Hostellerie d’Acquigny offers a terrace and a restaurant. Évreux is a 20-minute drive from the property and Giverny is a 25-minute drive away. Rouen is a 40-minute drive from the accommodation. The rooms are big, spacious, they are so comfortable and very clean. The people who work here are not so many since it’s not huge hotel but they are the best, really friendly. The restaurant serves excellent food!!! You absolutely have to visit the restaurant even if you’re not staying as a guest.
