Unfortunately this was only a one night stay and as we thought the accommodation was very comfortable we would have been very happy to stay longer. The gite has been converted from a barn and it retains lots of character but the modern amenities have been carefully added so we found the best of both worlds, old and new. In particular, we found the en-suite facilities to be of a very high standard. If we should be in the local area again, By the Wayside would be our first choice for a stay.

We were very much looking forward to staying at Chateau Mareuil and meeting Belinda and Lee. The guest rooms are charming, the whole property in fact. We were treated to a wonderful historic tour of the property and enjoyed a fantastic 4 course meal prepared in the evening by candlelight. Outstanding breakfast with fresh croissants, homemade jams, eggs and cheese. We hope to be back someday!
