Bethlen is such an amazing find. When I was looking at Romania one of the first properties I looked at was Bethlen and it was based on the availability of this property that we booked the entire trip and it really didn't disappoint. The history, the service, the food and the location were simply superb. Understanding the background to the estate and seeing the restoration that has taken place and the attention to detail in the buildings but also in offering a luxury get away in the heart of Transylvania was simply amazing. Irena was so helpful before arriving as well and helped to organise trips to UNESCO heritage sights, truffle hunting and even wine tasting (Romanian wine is excellent!). We even had the pleasure of meeting the Countess which was fascinating.

The location is great. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable. The host is great, I got a tour of all the accommodation possibilities of the place. There is also a swimming pool with salt water. We did not tried it but is looks nice. You can get to the old Sighisoara Citadel in just a few minutes.
