Amazing place for quietness and connecting with nature. You need to have a car to move around and you should buy your groceries before arriving and withdraw some money. Amazing view from the house. Very spacious house. I recommend watching the stars during the night from the balcony. Check-in was super easy and flexible.

We had a fantastic stay at this guesthouse. It is located in a beautiful and quiet area, with great views from the balcony and on the property. The hosts are extremely kind and welcoming, and the breakfasts were amazing - homemade and very generous. The house is a perfect base for exploring the Peneda-Gerês National Park. The hospitality of the owners was unparalleled, and we would love to go back for another visit. If you stay there, pay attention to all of the wonderful ironwork pieces that were made by one of the owners. Absolutely recommend!

The property was in keeping with a wilderness experience. It felt authentic and personal. The view was awe inspiring. There was plenty to do near by. We loved walking through all the villages and speaking to the kind people there. It was great to be there when there were no crowds. The food and service at the hotel were second to none. We felt so at home.

Good house in a quiet traditional Portuguese aldeia. In the kitchen there are all necessary utensils, but do not forget to buy some food before arrival as there is no supermarket in the village.

The location of Casa do Castanheiro is absolutely fantastic, the view directly from the house is stunning. You see bare, wild mountains, with artificial lake at the bottom of the view. The house is well equipped in terms of multimedia (TV, audio, internet works reasonably well considering remote location). There is plenty of kitchen equipment! Bathroom is nice, not new, but well maintained and reasonably clean. Outeiro is located within borders of a national park, it is great for hiking and general tourism around the area. The hosts are not on site, but are very helpful at arrival and during stay, getting in touch was very easy!. Prior to arriving I read the reviews of the house, they mentioned tricky arrival/parking at the location. It is indeed very tight, but so is the whole village. Be prepared for very tight manouvers and cm level spaces between car and walls/steps/stones etc.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the service we received was first class, Fernanda and Miguel could not have been more helpful through our stay, everything about the stay exceeded our expectations. The location itself is beautiful, the accommodation is of a very high standard, the pool is perfect and the service we got from Fernanda, Miguel and the team was amazing. The food was incredible, freshly prepared each day by Miguel from local produce, and for all this the value for money was excellent. Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

such a fun stay! the yurts were beautifully decorated. the shared facilities were very clean. the view is spectacular. my kids loved playing in the grassy open space.
