Superior rooms bed was comfortable however the Standard rooms bed was uncomfortable, too firm and stiff. Kitchen was acceptable. I enjoyed the free grapefruit however the visiting Germans stated they were offered fresh home free range eggs and milk, we were not. We stayed eight days (normal is one or two nights per the host). During our stay we had one couple downstairs (rusta couple) for two nights in a standard room. Then we had to move from the superior room upstairs to a standard room for our last night for the German couple. We got to hear the rusta couple listen to telly (streaming I guess) until 4am and talking most of that time. The second night it was until 2:30am then talking again at 5:20am. We heard the German's too, mainly moving around upstairs. Sound travels and acoustics wasn't considered with this diy Waiheke addition. We got some sleep and was grateful and surprised that the occupancy was running very low at 45% even though it was high season and directly after a long weekend. Guess that's the recession and the island did feel quiet but with more life during the weekend. It's walkable to Ostend and Palm Beach (and Little Palm Beach). I particularly enjoyed Little Palm Beach. The bus service on the island is excellent. Ferry service is a winner too but felt expensive.

The attention we received on arrival and the attention throughout the entire stay made us feel extremely valued and welcome. We had dinner the first night and the food was exceptional. I had a dietary requirement which they were more than happy to oblige. The lounge/dining has a sweeping view of the sea and I liked how every dining table is up against a window so everyone gets a view. Very exclusive and very special. We felt lucky to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary there. The menu for breakfast both mornings were a culinary delight. Lots of choices where I wished we could have stayed an extra day to try them all. Would absolutely recommend especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. Loved the water bottles in the fridge and shortbread biscuits in our room. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious but cozy at the same time with sweeping views. Really stunning ambience.

Really nice house hidden in the hills near the center. Access was really quick from the boat. There is a parking spot on site.
