As a female solo traveler, I felt safe and comfortable staying with the host and her family. When I arrived, the mother and her son greeted me at the door. Although I do not speak Japanese, and they do not speak English. We were able to communicate by using our Google Translate seamlessly. The accommodation has everything you need, and the host is willing to go out of her way to make your stay the most comfortable. It is essential to have your mode of transportation as the location is far and not within walking distance. However, it is worth it if you want to explore Hokkaido. If I am lucky, I hope to come back here to stay again. Even though Japan is not my home, this accommodation made me feel as it were.

A 1-minute walk from Shikotsu Toya National Park, Kitayuzawa Mori no soraniwa is located in the centre of the Kita Yuzawa hot-spring area. Renovated in June 2015 and located just steps away from the Shikotsu Toya National Park and in the centre of the Kita Yuzawa hot-spring area, Midorinokaze Resort Kitayuzawa is a 35-minute bus ride from the JR Date Monbetsu Train Station. A foot bath and indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths are offered. A free shuttle is available from the JR Sapporo Train Station. Midorinokaze Resort Kitayuzawa also provides an airport shuttle service to New Chitose Airport at an extra charge and is available upon reservation.
