The house was just spectacular. The view seemed to intermittently phase every couple of hours to provide a panoramic backdrop that melted through the morning mist into a graceful dusk until a surreeal moon slumbered above the twinkling city of Rijeka. The pool was sparkling clean, and we had a difficult time pulling ourselves away from it to explore the beaches and villages nearby. We mostly just relaxed in the beach chairs in the pool area until it was time for to cook lunch or dinner in the wood stove and sip on wine in the picnic area. Matejka, the owner, was easily the best hostess I've ever encountered. She greeted us upon arrival and gave us a quick tour, offering us a drink of her homemade Aronia liquor (which was magical). She was so quick to respond with every concern we had and was more polite than our wildest hopes. Once, I had a minor medical emergency (unrelated to our stay) and considered going to the hospital. She had a nurse friend that she contacted. The two of them talked me through my sincere concerns. She saved me, potentially, hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. A small store sits within walking distance that has beer, wine, and anything you might have forgotten at the larger grocery which is about ten minutes away. We also discovered a very nice, friendly restaurant nearby called Delphino's that was easy to get in and out of and offered local fare and great children's options like pizza. Would we come back? In a heartbeat. In fact, we are considering another stay there next summer. We loved it there!
