Steeped in Cornish history and dating back to 1340, this charming B&B is set in mature gardens. Located on the edge of Washaway, it offers luxurious accommodation with free Wi-Fi and free parking.

En suite rooms at Park Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast feature king-size beds and include a HDTV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer.

Location was great - it is 1/4 mile from Pencarrow House and we were wedding guests there, so we just walked up the lane. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The house is old and full of history but it is clearly very loved and cared for. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order and we bought some jam to bring home. WiFi also reliable given the location and thickness of the walls! Cakes and biscuits were a nice touch as well. We really enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome.

Nestled amid the beautiful Cornish countryside, between Bodmin and Wadebridge, this charming hotel is beautifully set within a Grade II listed building, dating back to the early 18th century.

Situated in Washaway, Trehellas is a family-owned country house with real warmth and character, close to all that the county has to offer. A former courthouse, today, the building still retains many of its beautiful original features, including the ground floor’s Delabole slate floors and the external mounting block.

The price was very affordable so we accepted the offer to upgrade the room for a small payment. OMG. The Courtroom Suit was amazing. A great breakfast was included in the price and dinner options were also great.

Perfect location for exploring all over Cornwall. The barn was comfortable and clean with spacious rooms and a lovely garden area. The area was very quiet and peaceful but close to amenities. Thank you to Katy and Steve who were great hosts and very friendly and welcoming. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay 😀.

The decision to stay for the night in this converted prison was born out of curiosity. The initial drive into the parking area of the hotel was awfully depressing. Huge tall vertical walls and a massive block like building with tiny windows that box you in. Having parked you take a second look and see a modern tower of glass and smooth contemporary architecture that forms an inviting entrance in the middle of the granite structure. After entering the inner sanctuary via a tunnel through the thick outer wall of the prison block you are greeted by a simple reception pult that whilst mirroring the austerity of the main prison is actually the domicile of a friendly receptionist. She (or he) is happy to give you a smile and listen to your jokes about not having being there for a while and not wanting to stay too long. Nowadays though the reception staff hand out personal magnetic cards instead of accompanying you to your room with a key. There are three floors with rows of cells facing each other on each side of a long central gallery. A glass roof and metal staircases at each end of the block complete the first impression. In former days the architecture was simple but the new architects have done a wonderful job with the conversion. External elevators now connect the floors, discrete openings provide easy access to the restaurants and other public areas. Each hotel room is formed by connecting three cells internally to provide bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. The architects have managed to combine modern elements with colour and soft surfaces to provide a feeling of luxury and warmth whilst at the same time retaining a presence of the severity and spartanism that once dominated. A true work of art, we enjoyed our stay, the restaurant, breakfast in the old chapel and a guided tour of the older non-converted part of the prison provided a highlight to our holiday. Die Entscheidung, in diesem umgebauten Gefängnis zu übernachten, entstand aus Neugier.
