After a 5 day drive from Turkey we needed somewhere relaxing and dog friendly for the weekend to chill out. This was it. A very well set up cottage house with great views and plenty space to exercise the dog. He loved watching the sheep, and the horses being fed in the morning.

The lodge was spacious and very comfortable with all I needed for a getaway. The terrace looked onto fields with a spectacular view of the ruined castle. Plenty of wildlife to see and hear. No tv or internet ensured a real break away from it all. There’s a pub and store five minutes away and the locals are friendly. York is a short drive away. Fantastic.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four-day, three-night stay at the accommodation. It was impeccably clean, beautifully presented, and exuded a cozy atmosphere. We especially appreciate the gracious hosts who not only provided us with a tour of the castle ruins but also left a delightful cake and some sweet treats for us to enjoy during our stay. Definitely recommend!
