We arrived late the first night after a long international flight, and they worked with us to make sure we could get dinner at the Pennington Hotel, which was so appreciated after 24 hours of travel and not much in the way of a proper meal.

This was a really cool place— the castle is stunning. I wish we’d had more time to look around, but we only stayed one night. The rooms are pretty basic, but very comfortable— good bed, warm shower, and lots of space. Nice little touches, too— they left little biscuits for us, coffee, etc. The coolest part was this: when we booked this room 3 months ago, we accidentally were given a rate that was MUCH lower than normal— literally £100 cheaper than normal. I contacted the property, and sure enough, it was a mistake on their part. I would’ve fully understood if they didn’t want to give it to me for the mistake price, since I had months to find another place. But they honored the price, even though it cost them a hundred pounds. I was impressed. Just nice people. :-)
