The Swan Inn, hotel in Disley

Set in Highpeak Junction, 14 km from Buxton Opera House, The Swan Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Excellent food, lots of fish on the menu. I think the chef is the owner - real attention to detail, pride in the dishes, very professionally run kitchen, excellent breakfast too. Interesting dishes, perfectly cooked. Restaurant is very, very popular, only 3 rooms so I suspect people come from miles around the quality is that good. Friendly staff - on the ball, sharp. The room was large and clean, modern decoration, comfy bed, excellent lighting for putting on makeup. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights.

Good location and to break the journey up. Parking is a little difficult as there is none at the venue .So you have to drive around to find off street. Walked around the town for a while and came back to the venue for a meal ,only to be told it closed at 8.00pm. But the Hotel served its purpose and was good value. Whether I would stay again. Not sure.

As per my request, I was given a quiet room ( first floor, facing away from Buxton Old Road, towards the community centre car park). I have not tried a room at the front but imagine it could be less peaceful? Very obliging, friendly staff.

The room was small (2 twin beds) but perfect for us. Breakfast was limited (toast, coffee, cereal) but that was fine as well for us as we were meeting at a local cafe for a hiking trip. There is only free street parking but it was no problem as there seemed tob e plenty available
