The house was extremely clean and comfortable and was very well equipped to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The breakfast is five star! The chef will fix whatever you request, but we highly recommend the full English breakfast. Or start your day with fruit and yogurt, scones, pastries, or eggs anyway you love them. The location is perfect. It's a few steps away from two major museums, the Dorchester History museum and the Shire Justice Museum. The Royal Oak is a nice pub across the street, and The Junction Pub has great food, as well. My husband enjoyed the Mixed Grill, while I had fish n chips. We are both Thomas Hardy and fans of T.E. Lawrence. A visit to Max's Gate, Hardy's home is a history buff's idea of a perfect afternoon! The train station, Dorchester South, is within walking distance, as well. There's a lovely park a block away. With playgrounds, and areas to sit and read. We took the train to Weymouth for an afternoon one day, and the next day we went to Morton, Lulworth cove, and Durdle Door. Beautiful scenery. Be sure and ask, the owner, Debs, to give you the scoop on all the history of the house and Dorchester. Both she and The Old Tea House are truly treasures. We loved our visit and we will be back.

We were located in a garden suite, rather than the main house, which gave us an extra level of privacy. The breakfasts, which were delivered on a trays as we completed each course, were excellent. The hostess even gave us homemade marmalade to bring back to Canada! She was also really helpful in telling us of things we could do in and around Dorchester and ran us into the town centre when it was raining, although it is with walking distance.
