No. 1 Charlotte Street, hotel in Bridgend

Located in Port Ellen, No. 1 Charlotte Street has a garden, shared lounge, bar, and free WiFi. The rooms in the hotel are fitted with a coffee machine.

I arrived on a morning flight to Islay from Glasgow and was able to leave my luggage at reception until check in time. Check in was fast and I found my room easily. I had a single room with ensuite bathroom which suited my needs perfectly. There was a good range f teas, coffees, and hot chocolate drinks available in the room. Breakfast was served promptly from 0730 and included continental and cooked breakfast. Cooked breakfast was piping hot and cooked to order. The location was great, being on the sea front, about 200 yards from the ferry terminal. There was a local seafood restaurant which I had dinner at both evenings; be sure to book early as it can be very busy even out of season. A local ebike hire shop is located behind the hotel and they offered a fantastic service. This allowed me to get to the American Monument and three distilleries (Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg) in no time. Great all round service, thanks very much!

Dha Urlar, hotel in Bridgend

Situated on Islay, Dha Urlar offers 4-star accommodation with a garden and a shared lounge. Featuring a tour desk, this property also has outside decking.

My stay at Dha Urlar was unforgettable, thanks in large part to the host’s “Jim” incredible hospitality and attention to detail. He went above and beyond by arranging his own trusted taxi to take us around Islay Island to explore the famous distilleries, making the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. The apartment itself was cozy, spotlessly clean, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with a range of options to start the day off right.

It was very nice and the staff was great. Parking was hard only because they were having a wedding there at the same time. I'm sure parking is usually not a problem.

Breakfast was a good range of food in a very nice dining room. Parking was sufficient and safe while the staff was top notch, from checking in to checking out. The room was a bit outdated but otherwise adequate for a nice stay on Islay. The hotel has a bar as well as a restaurant. It's centrally located so everything is within 20-30 minutes on the island, which is a huge plus for travelers with limited time (like ourselves).
