We had a wonderful stay at La Rebière d'Or, a beautiful manor just next to the peaceful Dordogne river. The place boasts an amazing courtyard with a couple of majestic trees, a small bambus plantation and a good-sized swimming pool. You will love having the opportunity to take a dip in the water during the hot summer days, so this is a big plus. The pictures taken in the garden will guarantee a sizeable increase in your fans on your instagram account. As you can see in the pictures, the rooms are big, each one is different and with impressive furniture and decorations. I was really impressed by the spot-less bathroom, amazing view, silence, magnificent windows with shutters and, in our case, the elephant in the room. The breakfast, French-style, is served in the garden or in one of the 2 saloons. Just lovely. As a bonus, you might meet Opal the cat, very instagramable too. Please be informed that the clients are not allowed to have a picnic in the garden and I think this is the correct decision. Location wise, this is a good base for exploring Bergerac, Issigeac, Periguex and a lot of castles and amazing villages. We also took a canoe trip on the Vezere river, from Les Eyzies to Le Bugue, a fantastic route. For dinner you need to drive about 5-10 minutes to Bergerac or to the nearby The Chateux des Merles, an excellent restaurant. The hosts, the lovely Chaterine and her husband are very helpful with recommendations and they also help with restaurant reservations. Some restaurants are closed Sunday to Tuesday, even in high season, so plan accordingly. Ask the hosts if there are some picnics like events organized in Bergerac or at one of the castles.
