I was hesitant to book this resort initially as there was only 1 recent review when I booked, and the older reviews of the original hotel were not that good. However, I decided to take a chance and I'm so glad I did!!! The resort is newly renovated and all the furnishings and decor are all very clean and new. The resort location was ideal as I wanted to be located near Mifuneyama Rakuen so I could go see the Autumn colours at night (only 6 min drive away). The facilities on the resort were fantastic.... the spa pool required swimsuits which the resort thoughtfully prepared for each guest, all packed in individual tote bags. The hot spring pool was a a bit small, but the resort was not packed when we stayed, so there were no other people around when we used the spa pool or hot spring. But what impressed me the most has to be the amazing service we received. Most of the staff did not speak English or could only speak minimal English, but they always tried their best to understand our needs, and made us feel so comfortable. The staff's dedication and service quality are top-notch. The food was so amazing as well (The sukiyaki dinner and Japanese breakfast included in the stay were so good!)

JR Hakata Station is a 90-minute train and bus ride from Takeo Onsen while Arita is a 45-minute bus ride away. Huis Ten Bosch is a 40-minute drive away. We found everything was great here, the room, the private and public hot bath; the food and the staff. The location of Ryokan Yoshidaya is excellent. It is close to the river where it has a road of sakura. We had a perfect walk in the morning and the view was absolutely gorgeous. We stayed at Worikara, a villa just a stone's throw away from its main ryokan and a perfect place for us to relax and unwind after a day's hike. We liked the breakfast and the dinner which were rich in varieties and taste. Finally, we must give credits to the staff who served us. They were friendly, helpful and patient to answer our questions. The translation system in the mobile phones they were using was perfect to break the language barrier and in fact, some of the staff who served us spoke excellent English. Our only regret was that we had no time to visit its cafe. We would definitely stay at this ryokan again when we visit Fukuoka again next year.

The staff made a special effort to accommodate my wife’s gluten allergy and were very clear and careful with the foods they served. Thank you!!
