It was a stunningly romantic ryokan, the room was spacious and beautiful, and the meals were exquisite. They accommodated my coeliac partner really well and communicated clearly what she could eat. They even made adjustments and alternatives for her, she was thrilled. The Onsen itself is lovely and the outdoor Onsen has beautiful views. We're so glad we decided to stay here -- we absolutely loved the food, the staff, and all of the little details of our room. We were pretty frazzled after 4 days in Tokyo, but we emerged from Bettei Senjyuan completely relaxed and ready for the next leg of our journey.

The room is very spacious, the facilities are brand new and clean, and the soundproofing is excellent. The private bath outside the room is fantastic; it was snowing on the day of my stay, making the snow bath very enjoyable. The staff is incredibly friendly to foreigners, providing a welcoming atmosphere. Although I don't know the name of the staff on that day, the service was excellent.

Love this property. It’s more on the traditional side but the room was large and the onsens were amazing. The highlight for me was the food. Highly recommend opting in to include the half board. The food was all home made and so good. It felt never ending as they give you around ~13 different types of food. The onsens change for male/female per specific time but I usually had them all to myself which was nice. The hotel is on the smaller side but definitely worth the price. It was beautiful when it snowed! It’s a ~15 min walk from Minakami station and a free shuttle back. You can also reach out to them before to request pickup.
