We really appreciated how genuinely friendly and kind the hosts were, and we loved the animals - horse, dogs, and cats. The hosts left apples for us to feed the horse and encouraged play between my daughter and the dog, Gizmo, who she was loving being around. They played ball with her and Gizmo and let us walk Gizmo. Also, when we said we hadn't had gooseberries before, the hosts brought us all of the fixings to make gooseberries and custard on a tray with fresh-picked flowers from the property.

Great hotel in an unrivalled location. The restaurant is particularly good with no staff shortages and a chef who obviously knows their stuff. We had a superb room overlooking the square which had a turndown service - very rare but very welcome. Overall, a memorable experience but hopefully we won't have to remember if for long as we intend to return as soon as possible!

Excellent location, good room with plenty of tea/coffee etc and some lovely biscuits. Food was outstanding, the cooked breakfast was easily the best we have had for a long time, you must have the black pudding and the evening meals we had were again 1st class especially the steak which was cooked to perfection. All the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay here again.

Super room with good bathroom and shower. Good choice of breakfast options. Lovely walk along the beach opposite to the harbour and easy walk into Southwold itself. Staff very helpful. The chef was excellent - we ate in the bar/restaurant one night - my Thai Chicken curry was the best I've ever had.
