This was the most exceptional B&B we stayed in on our tour of the south coast. There were some good stays but none that could compare with Halwell Lodge. This was a place run with heart. Others were just efficient in comparison.
It was reflected in the breakfast they served - so much choice. Fresh fruit salad, Cornish Bacon and eggs which we tried for the first time and toasted sour dough bread.
Tessa and Steve paid great attention to all the little home comforts they offered. A beautiful lounge and dining area to relax in overlooking a tranquil garden. A tastefully furnished bedroom which was whisper quiet despite a road adjacent to the house. And most of all ample parking.
It is located just outside St Ives with a Bus running to town frequently. Or you could hike part of the picturesque south coast track along the sea.

The location, setting & layout were great & the instructions were clear.
It would have been nice if we'd had the time to stay longer.
The only improvement would be to have a coffee machine, like Tassimo or Nespresso, with some pods.

Probably best b and b we've stayed in. Attention to detail outstanding. Just as an example: a bottle of fresh milk in room fridge changed daily.
Host professional chef and it showed in the breakfast quality. Will be back.
The building from the outside is good and it is a listed building and I should have been more careful before selecting this hotel but I was tricked by previous reviews. View from first room was ok, second room was good, but that is the only thing you can like about this old building.
Restaurant is also fine with variety of food options.
One outstanding thing is the Reception staff which is welcoming, caring & knowledgeable and provided recommendations for the restaurants in Penzance and some places for us to visit. 5 stars for them.

Very friendly owner who was extremely helpful over the phone.
We stayed over 2 very wet days and we appreciated the woodburner and the logs that were supplied.
We were also grateful for the food supplied for breakfast.

Wow 🤩 what a wonderful surprise this little gem is really worth a visit we arrived just in time for a home cooked Sunday roast and delicious pear and berry crumble for desert. The meals really are wonderfull l give them 5 stars ⭐️ The rooms all individually named are beautiful brand new loft style rooms with comfy new beds airy alight with everything you need! Most importantly the hosts are lovely you can’t go wrong it was a delight to stay here ❤️
