The outside spaces are amazing. Different places to sit or lounge and all with an amazing view of the Atlantic. All of this and a friendly, helpful host - I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

The nearest airport is Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira International Airport, 45 km from Casinhas da Laurissilva. I enjoyed remote location in the forest. House looks better than I expected based on photos; being on two floors creates spacious feeling. Efficient heating. Private waterfall couple of hundred meters away with maintained path from the accommodation. As most of the nights I was alone in the house, the waterfall was just for me. Self-catering facilities so no need to search for restaurants.
Santana
With Santana's traditional houses reachable in 16 km, Casa do Ribeiro Frio offers accommodation, a restaurant, a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. Incredible location. At the start of hike PR 11. Restaurants, steps away . Everything in the apartment was modern and clean. Great views, wish we stayed there longer.

The lodges are right up in the mountains but we had a car so no issue. Amazing walks on your doorstep and more 10 mins away. Nice and cool up in the mountains for sleeping. The host was very very helpful.
The location was just a short walk up the hill from Funchal old town. The apartment is really spacious and comfortable. The bed is lovely. Everything works. And it was great value for money. Funchal is a great base for exploring the island. We went to Reids' Hotel for afternoon tea, the tour of Blandy's Madeira wine lodge, the botanical gardens, two Levada walks - one guided and one we went to on the bus by ourselves, and a swim at the lido. The apartment was only a short walk away from lots of great restaurants too.

The perfect escape location with exceptionally high standard facilities. The lodge is huge and beautiful in equal measure. The perfect place to explore the Madeiran mountains but also if you're exploring Funchal but keen to have some serene evenings. We were able to cook our own food but enjoyed the cafe restaurant only 5-10 minute walk away (which does amazing hot chocolate!). The host was friendly and helpful. Please don't hesitate to book here.

Madeira is pretty expensive for lodging, so my satisfaction is based on price of this hotel. It is older and nothing fancy, but location is great and it was clean, so I was happy. Shower pressure was great and I got good sleep as neighbors were pretty quiet. Stuff was friendly. I received excellent instructions prior to my late arrival. Thank you!

We had the most wonderful stay at the Mountain Eco Shelter. The location is beautiful - the lodges are in a beautiful Ecological Park full of plants and flowers. You can do hikes directly from the lodges. The lodges themselves have everything you need - a great kitchen, a comfortable bed and a balcony with a stunning view. The staff here are really friendly and helpful. There’s even a snackbar down the road where you can grab dinner & drinks. We loved every minute of our stay here and we are already planning to come back again.
We had a really friendly and helpful reception. The lodges are perfectly situated if you want to explore the park. They were clean and comfortable and had everything you would need to cook a simple meal. Bathroom was lovely.
