The lodge features a terrace, 1 bedroom, a living room and a well-equipped kitchenette with a fridge and a stovetop. Towels and bed linen are provided in the lodge.

Harrogate International Centre is 48 km from the lodge, while Royal Hall Theatre is 48 km away. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford International Airport, 62 km from The Shepherd's Hut.

The Shepherds hut is situated in a beautiful village, but having it within castle ruins just makes any stay there magical. We found ourselves having a cuppa at any time of day just so we can sit and admire the castle grounds. Tasha, Pat and Oscar (their pooch) are wonderful hosts and are very welcoming, most notably Tasha makes an amazing lemon cake which we thought was a fantastic personal touch. Pat gave us a lovely tour around the grounds and allowed us to visit the sound room, which again was beautiful. We cannot express how amazing the location is, beautiful, magical, full of history and character and the sunshine is the icing on the cake. Thank you for a lovely time! Jonny and Fran

Boasting garden views, Castle Lodge features accommodation with a terrace and a balcony, around 18 km from York Railway station. Set 18 km from York Minster, the property offers a garden and free private parking.

The lodge was spacious and very comfortable with all I needed for a getaway. The terrace looked onto fields with a spectacular view of the ruined castle. Plenty of wildlife to see and hear. No tv or internet ensured a real break away from it all. There’s a pub and store five minutes away and the locals are friendly. York is a short drive away. Fantastic.

Lovely location with lots of walks, a great little pub, store and coffee shop within 5 min walk and Natasia was the best host. We arrived to a lovely lemon cake and she generously gave us a tour of the castle in the evening. The lodge was really comfortable and cosy and the heater warmed it in literally 5 minutes!
