The Hazendal Hotel in the Stellenbosch Winelands by NEWMARK, hotel in Stellenbosch

The Hazendal Hotel in the Stellenbosch Winelands by NEWMARK features an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, a garden and terrace in Stellenbosch.

We loved our stay at stay at The Hazendal Estate! Rooms are beautifully decorated and the restaurant serves delicious food. Staff is also very friendly and professional, we felt like royalty everytime we came across staffmembers everywhere on the premesis. There are also a lot of activities at the hotel, also for kids. Our kids really loved Wonderdal and the putting park was also a big hit. The location for us was also very convenient as it is nicely located between Cape Town, Paarl and Franschhoek.

Quiet town, friendly and helpful people.

Quiet town, friendly and helpful people. The whole setting of the town is attractive, very nice river. Lunching and dining was an issue - rather expensive. The map needs a lot of improvement: difficult to orientate but once I got the hang of the street layout, became easier to find my way. The only "activity" was the fabulous music festival - rainy weather (I was on foot) and very little information on the map prevented searching for sights worth seeing.

Obviously being in the heart of the winelands, wine farm visits are a daily activity. Selecting the right place to eat can be tricky, some very up market and expensive places, some very quick, snack and go places, the trick is to find the middle ground and filter out what you don't want. Traffic cameras are EVERYWHERE, drive the speed limit, coming from Joburg this will need to be a conscious change. A traffic fine can ruin a trip. Navigating Stellies is effortless, well indicated signage and it helps that everyone drives ridiculously slow. Avoid main roads, for no reason, other than to take in the fantastic views and the experience of local life in the area, explore as far as possible, you wont get lost. Oh, and try the scooters that are randomly scattered around town, looks weird but works great. Tap and go, awesome way to "feel" the town

We like Stellenbosch as a base to visit some wine farms. Being close to the town centre, it was easy walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars. The town centre has lots of art galleries as well as good shops.

The location is brilliant, so central. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I arrived early and they looked after my luggage for me, then took it to my room while I was out for lunch. They also allowed me to leave my luggage there the next morning after I had checked out. The hotel is old and quaint, giving you that real 'old world' experience so fitting of Stellenbosch.

It was 10 minutes drive outside of Stellenbosch, but beautiful views. The unit had aircon and wifi, fully equipt kitchen and Nespresso with compostable pods, which we appreciated. The pool was also lovely, but you need to drive/walk the 700m to the hotel. Wood was supplied for braai and bonfire in large firepit bowls.
