If you've never been to Lake George and you're within driving range, you're missing one of the most beautiful places in the world. I've been there several times and traveled the world. In my opinion Lake George is within the top ten.
It is beautiful, serene, breath-taking. The mountains around Lake George look as if they are from a painting!
There's so much to see and do in Lake George that's within walking distance of the center of the village. Just be very careful about parking. There is metered parking throughout the village from around 8am to midnight 7 days/week (about $1/hour as of June 2015) and it is strictly enforced. Some places have a five-hour limit; some meters just take coins.
