FAQs about hotels in Taipei

The Undiscovered Asian Capital

Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.

At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.

Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.

Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.

Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, efficient public transport takes you to the Taipei hotels on Booking.com.

The city of Taipei left a good impression on me.

The city of Taipei left a good impression on me. The people were disciplined. In the train stations, people queued up to enter and exit. I did not see anyone cut the line. The trains were efficient too: departed and arrived as scheduled. On the street, the locals obeyed the pedestrian rules. I did not experience any traffic whatsoever. On our last night there, we decided to walk around Daan Park. We noticed the locals were out. For awhile we thought what's going on. Then, we realized they were out because they were waiting for their trash to be collected. Even though English was not widely spoken, it was not a problem. They still tried to help. The food was great and very affordable too. I will visit again for sure.

Taipei information centers no longer have paper maps and everything is now online. This is great, but not if you are going to a remote spot. Taipei is so safe that you can go to 7-11 at 3 am in your pajamas and slippers.

    Taipei is awesome.

Taipei is awesome. Had dinner at A Joy in the 101, amongst other places. Also at Shilin night market - finally had the stinky tofu :) It was my 7th stay in Taipei, I'm always happy to be there. People are generally kind and polite, the MRT is fantastic. There's a lot to see and do, but as I was there for work, I only had limited time for that.

The hotel was located on the 16th and 17th floor of the huge building complex, and it was 5 min walk from Taipei Metro, Taipei Bridge station. The front desk staff contacted me and replied to my message in a timely manner (in Chinese, so I had to use the translation site, but I could get the overall idea). The room was pretty clean, and the bed was comfy. The regular check-in time is 17:00, but they can keep my luggage at the front desk. I would like to stay there again if I have a chance to re-visit Taipei!

The location is very prime. To be honest we expected that it's a proper hotel with proper room food service but it's more of an inn/motel. However the service is all in all good. Cleaning is available. The room is spacious with air-conditioning, ref, air dryer, hangers, and heater. The downside is there is no bidet. The bed is more of a spring type but it was decent. They gave us extra pillows when we needed them. For the price, the budget hotel is to go through.

Perfect location, just the opposite of Da'an Park. The hotel is 1-min walk to Da'an Park Station, Red line MRT (exit 1) and 3- min walk to exit 6 which has an elevator for those who have luggages. 20-min to Taipei Main Station by MRT. There is also a snack bar on the B1 floor which you can have snacks and drinks. 7-11 and PX mart are also nearby, 5-min walk. The room is spacious. Water pressure in both shower box and bath are very strong which I love it.

The upscale decor and ambience inside the bldg, comfortable bedroom, nice jacuzzi tub although pressure from whirlpool is too weak. Big park across street and various eating places make life easier. MRT and buses right outside hotel Nice hotel staff Afternoon tea time. I missed most of it but they set a small tray of snacks in my room knowing I was out. That's thoughtful.

The staff of the hotel is super friendly. So no bad experience there. The location is also fine; it's in the older area of Taipei, close to the MRT and there are a lot of restaurants and coffee bars within walking distance. Note that cleaning of the room is done any other day and not daily (not an issue as at home I also do not daily change my bedding).
