We stayed for five nights, and felt almost like we were living there by the end of the trip. The location is great – you have one of Taipei’s most interesting neighbourhoods on your doorstep, and can enjoy it before/after the day trippers have gone home. The property itself has a lot of character and has been nicely fitted out. Loved having a record player in the room, and getting occasional visits from the house cat. Speaking of the cat: it has the run of the property and is the only member of “staff” who’s on site during the night. Guests can get a discount on coffee at the cafe on the ground floor, though it doesn’t open until 11am so you’ll have to go elsewhere for breakfast (try the congee restaurant opposite the market).

I'd like to gate keep this room but it's also a good feeling to share with co-travellers a gem such as this place. The room still looks new and it is indeed just right for 1 person coz of the sizes of bed and room, but it is a very comfortable one. I had a good sleep every night. Additionally, It has all the those important details you would want in an accommodation- ref, washer, blower, slippers, hangers. I also truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of the host to prepare all those snacks for the guest. Location is superb! lots of food choices and transpo options. I would definitely stay here again without thinking twice.

We stayed in several hotels in Taipei and honestly this is the best one we stayed at and the cheapest. It is really good value for what you get. The reason why is not heavily reviewed is due to the fact that you HAVE TO have line in order to check in (which was no problem for us as we had a Taiwanese SIM card with data and LINE), but I can understand how the system can be overwhelming for foreigners that don’t even know what line is and have no data on their mobile when reaching the hotel. My suggestion is that the wifi passcode is being shared upfront so that people can communicate with the staff and not dependent on their own data plans.
