What an experience! Immediately upon arrival we were greeted by the most lovely hosts and lead to our comfortable traditional room with a view to the garden and mountains around. The hosts, Mr Hidenori and his wife were exceptionally warm, friendly and welcoming, and their dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious with a variety of beautifully presented local traditional cousine, leaving our bellies full and hearts warmed up from their hospitality. Mr Hidenori then drove us to the northernmost shrine of the five shrines where we enjoyed a day of making our way down the track, checking out the ninja museum and the various shrines along the way ending with a delicious meal of soba noodles as he recommended to us. Undoubtedly the highlight of our trip so far, and we will most certainly come back in the near future.

Everything was perfect from the rooms, the baths, facilities and food. Maki-san and her mother prepared delicious meals for us everyday There is beautiful views from the accommodation, and plenty of walks and sightseeing to do close by Maki-san very kindly drove us to the mirror lake so we can start our walk that day We felt very well-taken care of and I highly recommend this accommodation This is my favourite part of my Japan trip and I will return at a different season

This is such a special place. A 150 year old Ryokan perfectly located next to the Middle Shrine. Run by a lovely family who do everything to make you feel welcome. Dinner and breakfast were exquisite! And they catered for one of our party who does not eat seafood. Staying at this Yokokura Ryokan is one of the highlights of our trip.
