As authentic a Ryokan as they come; owner and staff were lovely, rooms were spacious and comfortable. Small little touches like hot water being brought to the room were nice. 7 onsens for 13 rooms - you do the math (it's almost always private) 😄 Food was fantastic too and lots of quality produce used in every dish

* excellent location, in a quiet part of the onsen town between a lot of trees
* open-air baths were very spacious and opened up to a small river
* indoor bath was easy to use
* kaiseki menus were quite delicious even for western tastes
* we liked the indoor decorations of the room and the tatami area was convenient, it didn’t extend to the whole room
