Affluent Brescia is an industrial hub whose Roman and medieval monuments are relatively undiscovered. Its strategic location in the foothills of the Alps and midway between Lake Garda and Lake Iseo was coveted by invaders, and during efforts to ward off the Austrians it earned the nickname of the Lioness of Italy.
Brescia’s oldest landmarks are the Capitolium, overlooking the former Forum, and the Roman theatre remains. Artefacts found on both sites are displayed in the city museum in St Julia’s Monastery alongside remains of 2 Roman houses with their original mosaics, murals and underfloor heating.
The Broletto was the medieval town hall and it shares a large, cobbled square with the round Old Cathedral (or Rotonda) which is partly below current street level. Between them is the New Cathedral, begun in the 17th century. Piazza della Loggia is dominated by the Loggia itself and at the opposite end is a porticoed walkway housing shops and cafes.
Overlooking this from a hill is Brescia Castle whose ramparts offer views towards the lush Franciacorta wine-growing region. To the east is Sant'Eufemia della Fonte Monastery, home of the Mille Miglia Museum commemorating the iconic motorsport race which started here.
Booking.com’s accommodation options include luxury hotels, cheap apartments by the train station and B&Bs near Brescia Airport.

Brescia is a magnificent city -- very walkable through the historic centre and UNESCO world heritage site, fabulous architecture -- from Roman ruins through medieval to Renaissance, 19th century and 20th century deco buildings. The main museum is outstanding, shopping areas under porticos are fabulous, and the centre is bustling with beautiful plazas and squares, and fabulous restaurants and bars. A unique experience is the elegant restaurant, Antico Beccaria.

Brescia is not a small town but like big other big cities in Italy it is not the same as in the past. It is calm although full of foreign people, has a beautiful ancient centre and cathedral and one can make a walk for 2-3 hours and one lunch or coffee. There is a faculty of economy of Brescia and so students and the city is not dead. As you know the students drive economy and keep economy live, so the town is better than cities like Trento, Parma, Genova, but less interesting than Verona, Pisa, Bologna.

Parco Archeologico di Brescia Romana had an impressive roman temple facade, frescoes, mosaics and marble floors, and the vast Museo di Santa Giulia housed some spectacular remains of roman villas. Well worth a visit. Views from the Castle were spectacular. Taking the train to Verona is also highly recommended (not on a Monday when THAT balcony and the amphitheatre were closed).

Brescia is an underrated city for sure.
Brescia is an underrated city for sure. However, there's a lot to see/visit here and a great place to explore the area (I easily took one day trips to Bergamo and Bologna, as well as Lake Garda).
The Santa Giulia museum is absolutely a-ma-zing.

Brescia itself is a super nice place.
Brescia itself is a super nice place. But what infected me chose it and accordingly recommend it - a great starting point for a trip. Direct train to Milan, direct train to Verona. By car, Lago di Garda is 30-40 minutes away.
Similar to my earlier trip and consequent review, I used the facilities at LUOGO COMUNE Ostello as a basis for the starting and end point of my trip to northern Italy. The facilities are very well looked after and impeccably clean. The location is excellent and is a few minutes walk from the metro station as well as various small shops for food and groceries plus the McDonald's. Check-in is quite generous as staff is around till 22:00. The ability to use an elevator is most welcome for those with lots of luggage or mobility issues.
ALDI market is right next door -- you can purchase fresh croissants and all you need for an Italian breakfast a few steps away from your rooms (you have an entire wing of the apartment).
The location is ONE block from the railroad we traveled on, and just across the street from ALL the bus lines, city and intercity --- but the window shutters keep the rooms QUIET.
The host was eager to provide Everything we needed for a perfect visit to Brescia and the Lake Garda region --- he made the visit an unexpected delight.
This is a wonderful hotel. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean with a large comfy bed. Ample parking both above and below ground. We ate in the restaurant most nights. The food is excellent and they serve tradional Brescia fare. The restaurant service is exceptional. It's a 15 - 20 mins. walk to the city centre but there are also metro and bus stops virtually outside of the hotel, tickets available at the hotel.
I would love to stay here again.
The property is located just at the edge of central Brescia, and is only a 5-10 minute walk to major sites and shopping streets, bars, restaurants and all that Brescia has to offer. The grounds of the hotel are quiet and peaceful all within it's palace walls on the other side of which is a fantastic city. The room and attached bathroom were spacious with views to the sprawling inner grounds of the hotel. The parking is within the hotel's walls, so it is safe and convenient.
Everything was perfect. I couldn't wish for a better hotel to stay in.
The rooms are immaculately clean, the bed very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent, with a great variety. The location is near everything important in old Brescia.
And the star of the show is Lidia, always happy to give (good) advice, recommend the best places to eat or to visit, but also the places that aren't.
I really believe this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in
The rooms are beautifully designed, modern, stylish and individual. You can feel the team's passion in every aspect. Definitely a successful change from the typical large hotel chains... The attention to detail is really noticeable! And: the team (we spoke to Davide and Giacomo) was super-friendly and took the time to chat with us.
We would definitely stay at this hotel again if we came back to Brescia.
The location was excellent and close to grocery stores and restaurants. The host David was very nice and prepared everything we needed. David also prepared water, milk, and other kitchen essentials. The room was very comfortable and clean. Kitchen was easy to use and brand new. When we were leaving, David helped us with our luggage. We would definitely choose this hotel if we were coming to Brescia again!
We spent 3 wonderful days in Brescia and surrounding lakes Iseo and Garda. The hotel is located just a few minutes of the highway and 10 minutes drive south from Brescia. The hotel exterior is a lovely traditional Italian building, while the room was completely modern - which we really liked. The room was newly renovated and I especially enjoyed the modern and very functional bathroom.
The room was clean. The check-in process was easy. The hotel is conveniently located, and there are 2 parking options, one free parking in front of the hotel and one paid parking in the back of the hotel, which is incredible. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We only stayed in Brescia for one night, but they made us feel welcome and it was an overall pleasant experience.
Awesome co-living in Brescia. Located in a historical building entirely renovated. Everything is new, comfortable, and clean. Quiet and very conveniently located to metro and buses. Fantastic shared kitchenb, fully equipped. It's a pleasure to cook there while meeting other guests. Cozy, international, diverse, and friendly atmosphere! Overall, fantastic place!
Large bedroom and bathroom in a lovely house (with lift) in the heart of Brescia's old town. 2 minutes' walk from Piazza Vittoria, which has plenty of restaurants to choose from. Good communication with the host beforehand and nice welcome. The breakfast buffet is perfect.
Good location, 15 mins walking to the city main attractions. Quiet area
Available parking on the street
Very beautiful hotel, fully furnished and decorated with great taste
Common kitchen to store food and drinks
Fantastic staff, Valerio has been very kind and helpful
It was very central, nice binding with each corner of Brescia. Town is a bit too abandoned and the Hotel was suronded with ppl on the streets, is like American Getto, didnt feel secure for my Family. But Staff was very nice and for the price is very ok.
My second stay in this little gem: loved the room "Desiderata" on the 4th floor with view, good breakfast, very kind owners. Location in the heart of Brescia's old town.
The hotel is like a palace. Location is perfect to explore the very best of Brescia. All attractions are walking distance. Staff are very helpful and accomodating.
