Pula Arena

Amazingly well preserved, this amphitheatre is the only one in the world to have four side towers remain intact. Starting life out in the first century AD, the once sand-floored venue is truly vast. Each year, the Pula Film Festival takes place in the arena and there are weekly recreations of gladiator fights.

Make sure you head to the section below the arena.

Make sure you head to the section below the arena. You can't get into this space in the Colosseum in Rome, so to be able to do it here is an amazing treat. Check in advance to see if there are performances on before you arrived. We did not know to do this and could have seen Robbie Williams perform in this ancient ruin! (it also meant it was closed for a couple od days for other visitors whilst the stage set was in place- bump out was super quick and it was back open the day after the last event)

fantastic building but we went on the last week of the season in October. Unfortunately they had packed away the audio equipment advertised as part of the price so although the place was amazing we felt cheated a bit as we could only look round not hear about the history, however the building was amazing and the cellar wine making equipment was very interesting

The apartment is beautifully furnished and had almost everything we needed during our stay. The place also felt very clean. In addition, the host was very friendly and was quick to respond to all of our questions and requests. Overall, however, the best aspect of the apartment is the location! It is basically a one-minute walk from the Pula Arena which was fantastic.

We were only in the apartment for one night, but were very impressed by it. The kitchen/dining room was well fitted and equipped. The beds were very comfortable and it all looked very nice on the inside. Location wise, it is close to the ferry port (which was perfect for us as we arrived from Venice) and was close to the city centre and Pula Arena. The host was very conscientious checking that we got in and settled okay, as we arrived quite late in the evening.

The hosts waited for us outside of our arrival and greeted us. They were kind, and friendly and welcomed us with open arms. They showed us the apartment and told us a bit about the location. The apartment was cosy, with 2 rooms (bedroom, dining room and kitchen all together, and the second room was the bathroom). It also had a terrace with a wooden fence around it for privacy. We got some Croatian sweets and 2 croissants on the table plus it had a lot of games like uno and others available. The apartment was 10 minutes away from Pula Arena.
