Visiting the Agora perhaps gives the best idea of the layout of the ancient city.
You can re-enter most of the museums on the same day. Even though the ticket to the Parthenon includes access to Roman Agora and central Agora, they were ALL free on Saturdays.
The Parthenon of course but the Agora is well worth a morning.
