The staff were extremely helpful, cheerful and made us feel very welcome. The food was superb, both evening meal and breakfast- service excellent and food produced quickly.
The room was spacious, light and a pleasant temperature. Loved the view of the river and the small balcony.
Although we didn't need it on this occasion, as we only stayed one night, it was nice to have a bath as well as a shower.
We loved the fact that The Royal is sited in a beautiful location and yet was just a few minutes walk from the pretty town of Ross on Wye.

Wilton Castle
On the banks of the River Wye, the crumbling ruins of Wilton Castle are as romantic as they are picturesque. Walls of ivy climb the wrecks of walls and towers, but don’t think everything here is charmingly ramshackle – there’s two acres of beautifully kept gardens to explore, where the scents of English flowers perfume the air in the spring and summer months.
